The Ohio Bobcats made the long trip from Athens to Happy Valley to take on the Penn State Nittany Lions in Happy Valley. Both teams enter the contest with a 1-0 record.
Ohio received the ball first; Rourke had a solid pass for 18 yards to Tyler Walton. The Bobcats couldn’t find any source of offense on their first possession resulting in a punt.
Penn State received the punt and started their first possession on their own 20-yard line. The Nittany Lions made the most of this opportunity by driving right down the field on the Bobcats. A blind side block pushed the Lions back but didn’t stop them. Sean Clifford was perfect on the first possession going 6-6 with 62 yards and a one-yard touchdown. A great possession for the super senior.
Penn State got the ball back after Ohio failed to string first downs together. It only took two plays for a Penn State touchdown thanks to a Nicholas Singleton 70-yard touchdown run. This extended the lead 14-0 in favor of the Nittany Lions.
Ohio stopped Penn State for the first time to start the second quarter, this didn’t change much for the Bobcats considering they got pinned at their own one-yard line. The first play of the possession for the Bobcats was a fumble by Rourke resulting in a safety. The Lions got two points and the ball.
With about 5:00 in the half after a Penn State field goal Ohio took out all the stops to get down the field with two trick plays, totaling for 39 yards. A pass from WR Jacoby Jones to QB Kurtis Rourke set up a Sieh Bangura rushing touchdown.
Penn State responded right away due to a 7-yard pass from Clifford to Mitchell Tinsley to make the score 26-7 going into the half.
The second half continued to be all Penn State, Drew Allar subbed in during the 3rd quarter. The Medina Battling Bees product made it look easy going 3-3 with 51 yards and a TD to Omar Evans in his first possession. Allar didn’t stop there, he had a 28 yard pass to Dinkins for his second and last touchdown of the day.
Penn State displayed dominance on both sides of the ball Infront of 107,000 plus fans at home. The ending score would be 46-10.
The leaders of the game are Nicholas Singleton who had 10 rushes for 179 yards and 2 touchdowns.
Sean Clifford went 19-27 with 213 with a rushing and passing touchdown.
Drew Allar went 6-8 with 88 yards and 2 touchdowns.
