Westlake Defeats Barberton in Tournament Play

Westlake Varsity Demons snagged a late lead and defeated Barberton Magics Varsity 7-3 on Thursday to advance to the District Semi Finals.  The game was tied at two with Westlake Varsity Demons batting in the bottom of the fifth when Hugh Sullivan drew a walk, scoring one run.

 

 

 

Sullivan led the Westlake Varsity Demons to victory on the pitcher’s mound. The fireballer lasted seven innings, allowing five hits and three runs while striking out six and walking one.

 

 

 

Chanden Lee took the loss for Barberton Magics Varsity. The righthander allowed three hits and two runs over two innings, striking out one.

 

 

 

Michael Kuziak started the game for Barberton Magics Varsity. Kuziak went four innings, allowing five runs on seven hits

 

 

 

    1. Westlake Varsity Demons had ten hits in the game.  Michael Jatsyshyn, Nolan Ponstingle,

      and Aidan Keir each managed multiple hits for Westlake Varsity Demons.  Jatsyshyn led Westlake Varsity Demons with three hits in three at bats.

 

The Demons will play at 4 pm at Brunswick High School against the winner of North Royalton and Copley.
