Westlake Demons Top Highland Hornets 10-4

Westlake Varsity Demons nabbed the lead late in the game in a 10-4 victory over Highland Varsity Hornets on Wednesday in a game held at Crushers Stadium in Avon. The game was tied at four with Westlake Varsity Demons batting in the top of the sixth when Aidan Keir singled on a 2-2 count, scoring three runs.

 

Highland Varsity Hornets got things started in the first inning.  Logan Marquis singled on a 0-1 count, scoring one run.

 

In the bottom of the fifth inning, Highland Varsity Hornets tied things up at four.  Highland Varsity Hornets scored one run when Hunter Winston singled.

 

Westlake Varsity Demons put up three runs in the seventh inning.  Westlake Varsity Demons scored its runs on an RBI triple by Nolan Ponstingle.

 

Chris Protos was the winning pitcher for Westlake Varsity Demons. The hurler lasted five innings, allowing eight hits and four runs while striking out four.  Nathan Tol threw two innings in relief out of the bullpen.  Tol recorded the last six outs to earn the save for Westlake Varsity Demons.

 

Carter Oviatt took the loss for Highland Varsity Hornets. The righty allowed eight hits and four runs over three and a third innings, striking out one.

 

Westlake Varsity Demons racked up 13 hits.  Ponstingle, Derek Occhipinti, and Greyson Elyederani all managed multiple hits for Westlake Varsity Demons.  Elyederani, Occhipinti, and Ponstingle each collected three hits to lead Westlake Varsity Demons.  Westlake Varsity Demons tore up the base paths, as two players stole at least two bases. Hugh Sullivan led the way with two.

The Demons return to the yard tomorrow with a head game against Fairview at 4:30
