Olmsted Falls Dismantles Lorain 50-6

Where else would you want to me on a Friday night? Welcome back to football season! On a beautiful Friday night in Olmsted Falls, the Bulldog community could not have showed more excitement and enthusiasm for the start of the 2021 season.

Their opponent, the Lorain Titans are coming off a season in which they did not play last year. The Bulldogs came off a 4-3 season last season due to COVID-19 protocols. Lorain won the coin toss and elected to receive the opening kickoff.

It was a slow start for both teams. The game started off with each team exchanging fumbles within the first 2 minutes. Olmsted Falls Rocco Conti coughed it up inside the Lorain red zone.

Olmsted Falls started to get the ground game started with nice pitches from Charlie Ciolek to Rocco Conti and Jack Pinchek. Fall’s junior, Clay Vormelker finished the series off strong with a four-yard touchdown making the score 7-0 Bulldogs.

After a rocky first quarter by both offenses, Olmsted Falls Ryan Burkhart recovered a fumble right off the rip. The running attack for Olmsted Falls’ next drive was all Luke Deickman. The Bulldogs used him on three straight running plays going for 32 yards and ended with a 2-yard touchdown run (14-0 Bulldogs). Later on, the constant turnover theme kept haunting Lorain.

Titans’ receiver Rico Anderson gave it right back to Olmsted Falls. Vormelker took advantage ripping off a 31-yard run soon after and capped it off with a 2-yard touchdown (20-0 Bulldogs). Just when you would think Lorain would stop turning the ball over, it happened again! Next Bulldogs possession, Charlie Ciolek completed a 27-yard touchdown pass to #4 Michael Candow before half making it 27-0 Bulldogs.

The second half started off strong for Lorain defensively, as Titan’s sophomore Noah Smith stuffed Vormelker on a fourth and one on the 46 of Olmsted Falls. Lorain would turn the ball over on downs, leading to a 23-yard score from Ciolek to Pinchek (34-0 Olmsted Falls).

Lorain would capitalize on their next drive with sophomore quarterback Joseph Wyatt on a designed QB run (Bulldogs 34 – Titans 6). Olmsted Falls gave their starters one last series on offense as Vormelker scored yet again (Bulldogs 41- Titans 6). The rest of the game was played by backups as Olmsted falls came away with a 50-6 win.

Vormelker was a huge spotlight for the Bulldogs offense and used a lot throughout the night in the triple option running game. He took on a big load and lead up to expectations scoring 3 touchdowns.

Next up for the Bulldogs will be the Brunswick Blue Devils, and the Titans will take on the Sandusky Blue streaks.
