It’s draft week so you know what that means. Time to throw out my last second mock draft and give my prospective on some of these picks and players for the first round. (Not all picks and players will have a description).
1 – Chicago Bears – Caleb Williams, QB, USC
There is no doubt who the top pick of the draft be after the Bears traded Justin Fields to Pittsburgh for almost nothing. Williams is a ready to lead a NFL team, the Character issue concerns are not something I have given much time when talking about Williams, he’s ready.
2 – Washington Commanders – Drake Maye, QB, UNC
Maye should be the pick for the Commanders after Jayden Daniels was unhappy about his visit. Daniels and Maye are interchangeable, Maye’s floor is higher with a lower ceiling. Best case scenario Maye is game manager that makes the easy throws.
3 – New England Patriots – Jayden Daniels, QB, LSU
Daniels may have the highest ceiling of any QB in this draft, I don’t think he is a better pure thrower compared to Penix but he can make something out of nothing. Im interested to see how he develops in a NFL offense.
4 – Arizona Cardinals – Marvin Harrison JR. WR, OSU
He is the best WR in the draft as Odunze is right behind him. Arizona needs a weapon for Murray and Harrison JR may be the answer.
5 – LA Chargers – Joe Alt, T, Notre Dame
This kid is a freak of nature who is head strong and tough like a bull. Chargers need a tackle to help defend their QB, Alt is the right man for the job.
6 – NY Giants – J.J. McCarthy, QB, Michigan
Shouldn’t be picked till round 2 or 3, the Giants are bad at scouting QB’s and will reach on McCarthy like they did with Daniel Jones all those years ago.
7 – Tennessee Titans – Malik Nabers, WR, LSU
8 – Atlanta Falcons – Dallas Turner, ED, Alabama
Offense is primed and ready to go, all they need is a true edge rushing to prevent these games from going into shoot outs every time.
9 – Chicago Bears – Rome Odunze, WR, Washington
Adding Odunze to this WR will be deadly, Though I have Odunze at nine I could see him being a few picks earlier and Nabers being selected by the Bears. Either WR is a great pick up for the Bears if one of them falls this late.
10 – NY Jets – Brock Bowers, TE, Georgia
Rodgers needs a TE to throw to, Might as well give him this monster from Georgia. Bowers is the complete package as a pass catcher. I am concerned about his size while blocking and if he can hang inside of the trenches or if he will be used similar to Travis Kelce.
11 – Minnesota Vikings – Michael Penix, QB, Washington
Penix will be the best QB in the draft. I like the big armed QB from Minnesota throwing the ball to Addison and Jefferson. This is the right situation for him to start right away and be successful for years to come.
12 – Denver Broncos – Bo Nix, QB, Oregon
Broncos will reach once again on a QB rather than filling their other needs. Bo will be a long term backup in the league but nothing more.
13 – Las Vegas Raiders – Taliese Fuaga, T, Oregon State
14 – New Orleans Saints – Olumuyiwa Fashanu, T, PSU
Fashanu will be the second best T in the draft, he would be the best in any other draft. I wouldn’t be surprised if he has a long career protecting QBs
15 – Indianapolis Colts – Quinyon Mitchell CB, Toledo
Love seeing a MAC guy projected in the top 15. Mitchell is a stud and a lockdown corner. He will not just be the first CB off the board but the best out of this class. Group five players can make great pro players, Mitchell will be an example of that.
16 – Seattle Seahawks – Laitatu Latu, ED, UCLA
17 – Jacksonville Jaguars – Terrion Arnold, CB Alabama
18 – Cincinnati Bengals – Byron Murphy II, DL, Texas
19 – LA Rams – Jer’Zhan Newton, DL, Illinois
20 – Pittsburgh Steelers- Cooper DeJean, CB, Iowa
I could see Pittsburgh trading up with Mitchell if he slides another pick or two closer to them. If they don’t trade up they will settle for the quick CB out of Iowa. DeJean will also solve the return man issues they have had issues solving over the years.
21 – Miami Dolphins- JC Latham, T, Alabama
22 – Philadelphia Eagles- Nate Wiggins, CB, Clemson
23 – Minnesota Vikings – Jackson Powers-Johnson
24 – Dallas Cowboys – Graham Barton, T, Duke
25 – Green bay Packers – Kool-Aid McKinstry, CB, Alabama
26 – Tampa Bay Buccaneers -Jared Verse, CB, Florida State
27 – Arizona Cardinals – Adonai Mitchell, WR, Texas
28 – Buffalo Bills – Brian Thomas JR, WR, LSU
29 – Detroit Lions -Chop Robinson, ED, PSU
Love the idea of pairing Chop with Hutch, if Robinson can live up to the expectations of an edge rusher out of PSU the Lions will be more than happy to add him to this pass rush.
30 – Baltimore Ravens – Troy Franklin, WR, Oregon
31 – SF 49ers – Tyler Guyton, T, Oklahoma
32 – Kansas City Chiefs – Ladd McConkey, WR, Georgia
