by State College, PA- Buffalo is no stranger to playing at Happy Valley in front of the one hundred thousand faithful Penn Staters that fill up Beaver Stadium each week. This was their fourth time playing at Penn State, with the closest result being in 2015 with a score of 27-13.
This time around, the Bulls were not able to keep it as close; the scoreboard accurately reflected how the game played out with a final score of 55 to 6.
Penn State showed why they are a top 14 team in the country. The defense halted any and all attacks from Buffalo. Jason Wright, the dual-threat QB who got the nod behind center tonight, didn’t fare well as Buffalo failed to move the chains until the second quarter.
Buffalo had some positives in the form of a turnover that led to a field goal. That Field goal did very little to change the momentum of the game. A second field goal ended the first half, as Buffalo would have to wait until the last five minutes of the game before they would see their first touchdown.
A 12-play, seven-minute drive capped off by a one-yard rush from James McNeil Jr that would finally put the Bulls on the board after a long day in Happy Valley.
Penn State’s offense, led by Senior QB transfer from Iowa State Rocco Becht, was as versatile as ever. The passing attack was aided by a dual rushing attack from Quinton Martin and James Peoples.
The Biggest star for Penn State was sophomore standout Koby Howard, who has emerged as a true number one for Becht in the young season. Howard earned a receiving touchdown and well over a hundred yards.
Penn State controlled the game in all three phases as Buffalo had a hard time avoiding three-and-outs. Buffalo knew they had an uphill battle; the hill was much steeper than the Bulls could imagine.
The Third quarter was the biggest tell that this game was not competitive, as the crowd cleared out and the Subs rolled in for Penn State. That didn’t stop the dominating performance, as the subs continued where the starters left off; a 59-yard Cam Wallace TD was the biggest example that capped off this game in the fourth quarter.
