Lex Luger
He was a staple in WCW for most of his career, both before and after his run in the WWF. His biggest push came right after the WWF departure of Hulk Hogan as Vince McMahon was in need of a new American hero, and quickly!
Originally debuting in WWF under the heel gimmick of “The Narcissist”, Luger made a sudden and shocking face turn when WWE Champion Yokozuna presented America with the prestigious “Body Slam Challenge” on the deck of the USS Intrepid.
Yokzouna and Mr. Fuji had the nerve to challenge athletes from across America to try and slam the massive sumo wrestler. When all others had failed, Luger arrived on a helicopter and saved the day putting down the massive Japanese superstar.
This kicked off the build towards a SummerSlam match between the now All-American Luger and the evil foreigner Yokozuna. The WWE took it even further as they put Luger on a bus for the next seven weeks and called it the “Lex Express” as he toured across America.
Much the way a candidate running for office would. In the end, it was all for not as Luger failed to capture the WWF title, and left two summers later to head back to WCW.
Whoa whoa whoa! Hacksaw one the very first royal rumble, was king of the Ring and was the WCE UNited States champions having beaten Steve Austin for the belt! Don’t sell the big Guy from Glenn Falls,NY short!!! He won’t the 1987 Slammy for Men’s Wrestler of the Year! ICON!!!
