WWE SummerSlam Weekend Features Returns, Title Swaps & Strange Booking Decisions

Once again, NXT was the true highlight of a big WWE PPV Weekend.

Cameron Grimes winning back the Million Dollar Championship for Ted Dibase was the smart move.  Grimes has worked so hard to become one of the most popular and fun NXT performers and the fans have shown they will get behind him.

For Eli Drake, the “LA Knight” character has not worked since day one, and they need to scrap it for good now.  LA Knight is a gimmick that screams 80’s and early 90’s. It is time to put it to bed for good and just let him be Eli Drake.

Ilja ends the historic title reigns of Walter

I’m not the kind of guy who likes to say, I told you so, but,,,, “I told you so!”

I wrote about this earlier and predicted, in case you missed it, here is why I’m not shocked by this move.

“It is not often a challenger will get two shots at the “big one” in one years’ time so far apart.  Typically, it is in back-to-back months as part of program, but this one feels as though Walter has done a full lap around of contenders after nearly three years and felt like starting over.

Walter has gotten the better of it in every exchange since the two began appearing on NXT each week the past month.  Time and time again, they have made Dragnov look weak.

However, that being said, I feel as though they are building towards a huge shock for NXT and a feel-good moment by having him end the long winning streak of Walter.

All of these factors combined with the rumors that Walter is actually hurt and headed towards surgery, lead me to believe that everyone should get ready for a sizable shock come Sunday Night.”

Samoa Joe defeating Karion Kross for the NXT Championship

Well, I guess they really are burying NXT for good and this is beyond sad.  It was the best product the WWE has put on TV in 10 years, and now they are killing it.  I don’t even have the words.  How you take out a dominant champion like Kross with a guy who you let go 3 months ago.  None of it, and I mean none of it, makes sense.

Kross is off to get lost in the RAW shuffle. I will say this, at least Joe looked good.  I simply don’t care for this new direction they are taking.
