WWE: Popular Babyface to Turn Heel Before WrestleMania

A year ago at this exact time, Sami Zayn was the hottest babyface in all of pro wrestling. He challenged WWE Universal Champion Roman Reigns in front of his hometown Montreal crowd.  He teamed with his best fried Kevin Owens to headline WrestleMania where he earned the pin to win the WWE Tag Team Championships over the Uso’s, ending a year plus long reign in the process.  Zayn was red hot and on top of the world, and now, he is clearly headed for a another midcard heel turn.  What a shame!

Even the most naïve fun-loving Zayn fan can accept reality of what is coming next.  He hasn’t won a singles match since last Spring, and since he and Owens lost the WWE Tag Championships to the Judgement Day, they have done absolutely nothing with him outside of his participation in War Games.  The losing streak is now being spotlighted, and his frustration is front and center and the point of a storyline.

At first, I saw a tag team with him and Jey Uso being the perfect match to take on the Judgement Day.  But then, it became apparent that WrestleMania will be brother vs brother as Jimmy will be taking on Jey.  So then, I thought, what about Zayn vs Gunther?  But that appears to be headed towards a showdown with the last man to defeat Gunther, which is Bron Breakker.

Then I thought, maybe Zayn turns against Jey Uso and costs him his upcoming match with Gunther.  So again, there is a lot of ways this thing can go, but the only certain is the grim reality that the long-awaited Zayn babyface run towards the top, was once again, just a flash in the pan and will more than likely never happen again.
