WWE Halloween Havoc 2023 Recap & Reaction

NXT 2.0 held night one of their 2023 Halloween Havoc special tonight and we have several hot takes coming out of it.

This article will be updated to reflect night two as well, once that show airs next week.

  1. The women dominated the show, with two female hosts, a female music performance to start the show, a backstage segment featuring Tiffany Stratton and 5 of the 7 matches were female matches, including the opener, the main event, and the last 4 matches in a row to end the show.
  2. Upset city for the gold!  I’m not sure what the bigger upset was, Chase University winning the Tag Gold, or Lyra Valkyria defeating Becky Lynch for the Women’s World Championship.  I like both moves however, and the strap being on Becky Lynch gave it the rub it needed since Mandy Rose left late last year.
  3. There will be more women’s title matches next week as Piper Niven and Chelsea Green swing by NXT to defends their Women’s Tag Team Gold versus Thea Hail and Jacy Jayne. I love what they are doing right now with making Hail and Jayne edgy heels you actually want to root for.
  4. Jade Cargil has now made her presence on all 3 brands as she arrived at NXT again tonight.  Smart booking, keeping everyone guessing where she will land!
  5. Lexis King ( Brian Pillman Jr) made his debut and looked solid.  However, I’m not comfortable with Booker T bashing Brian Pillman Sr. so much on commentary, not sure that was needed.
  6. Roxanne Perez defeating Kiana James in a Devils Playground Match to open the show ws excellent, but those fakes brick were laughable.
  7. Call me crazy, but I thought Blair Davenport defeating Gigi Dolin in a Lights Out Match was the match of the night!
  8. I’d look for Lola Vice to win the Women’s breakout tournament next week, she is head and shoulders above everyone in this tournament.
  9. They want everyone to believe Carmelo Hayes beat up Trick Williams last week, but quite honestly, all signs point to Bron Breakker.
  10. Finally, I’d give this show 5 out of 5 stars.  Love how NXT is keeping the Halloween Havoc tradition alive and doing a great job with it!  Bring on next week.
