WWE Extreme Rules Preview & Predictions

This is a very interesting card at a very interesting time as they set up for SummerSlam.  Unlike WrestleMania, they already know their next Super Card will be without fans, so they can get ahead of the game and get a little creative.

With the original plan for SummerSlam being a triple header of Brock vs Drew, Orton vs Edge, and Bayley vs Sasha Banks, the “RONA” and Injuries have put the plans on hold for the moment.  With that being said, let’s take a look at this card, and begin to plan ahead for the biggest party of the Summer no one is allowed to come to.

Let’s start with the best thing going in WWE today, and that is Bayley and Sasha Banks.  They are easily the most entertaining combination and growing storyline in the company. Despite the ultimate payoff of them taking each other on in a main event, being delayed, I still believe the split is coming soon.

I see it starting to develop this weekend with Bayley using help from Sasha to defeat Nikki Cross to hold onto her title.  Meanwhile, later in the show either no help, or faulty help from Bayley will cost Sasha her shot at unseating Asuka for her championship. This will then lead to tension between the two and further set the stage for a Banks face turn.

Speaking of titles, the two matches featuring the Universal Champion and World Heavyweight Champion leave little to question.  Braun Strowman is not defending his crown against Bray Wyatt as this is a non-sanctioned, non-title swamp fight.

That pretty much guarantee’s that Strowman will walk away with the loss.  Thus, creating their third and final blow off match at Summerslam with the Belt on the line as we finally see the re-emergence of The Fiend who has been gone since Mania.

As for the other World Champion, Drew McIntyre defending his belt against Dolph Ziggler, that one seems like a sure thing and pointless to even watch.

Never has a scripted match been so easy to figure out since the days of Saturday morning jobber squash matches.  Ziggler is fresh off jobbing to Otis (where has he been?) and will now challenge for the big belt? His losing ways will continue.

The undercard has some intrigue to it however as it is headlined by Seth Rollins vs Rey Mysterio Jr in an Eye vs Eye match.  I’d expect some cinema aspects in this one.

I’m not sure who wins but I can only hope that they don’t have Dominic turn on his father.  Ratings and programs are bad enough right now, let’s not compound the issue with weirdness.

Jeff Hardy vs Sheamus is a feud I can actually get behind and have been enjoying despite the adult natured themes at times.  Hardy is just someone you like to cheer while Sheamus is a tremendous heal.

Again, this feud has had some legs to get us through the dog days of summer.  It shouldn’t be too much longer until King Corbin finds a way to get involved, he is too talented to sit idly by.

MVP vs Apollo Crews will be the perfect match to sit back and check your phone for updates on pretty much ANYTHING ELSE.

Leave MVP as a talker and manager right now, having him in the ring with a rising star like Crews is not the best idea.  Find a way to insert Lashley, R-Truth or someone else into this before it is too late.  It’s been a mess.

As for The New Day defending the Smackdown Tag Belts against Shinsuke Nakamura, look back to my comments regarding Dolph Ziggler. When is the last time Nakamura or Cesaro has won a big match of any note?
