WWE Extreme Rules Hot Takes

WWE Extreme Rules 2021 took place tonight from Columbus and provided plenty of talking points.  As always, we have our takeaways from the big card.

Carmella continues to lose

For whatever reason, the WWE has put Carmella on a giant losing streak over the last year or so.  On the other hand, they have given Liv Morgan multiple pushes as each one as failed.  Tonight, it was no different as they let Liv Morgan lead off the night with a victory over Camille.  The WWE seems desperate to try everything possible before throwing in the towel on Morgan.

The Big E push continues, but for how long?

It was another clean pinfall win tonight for Big E, but over AJ Styles and not Bobby Lashley which continues to leave the door for a rematch between the two wide open.  Rumor has it that it will be taking place on tomorrows Monday Night Raw.  A loss for Big E, could be sending him right back to Smackdown if it happens.

Sasha Banks returns (yet again)

Banks may be the Queen of all returns when it comes to making a sudden impact.  She created havoc tonight during her latest “surprise return” when she broke up the Becky Lynch vs Bianca title match, which was actually pretty damn good!

With Sasha Banks back and the Becky & Bianca feud still red hot, the Smackdown Women’s Division may be one of the best in pro wrestling right now.  Banks will continue to create havoc, I just wish her running buddy Bayley wasn’t banged up for it.

Goodbye Lilly

Charlotte literally ripped the stuffing out of Lily after defeating Alexa Bliss tonight.  However, following the match, Bliss held the out lining of Lily and shrieked in anger and sadness.  Am I the only one that thinks the doll will be back at full capacity as early as tomorrow night?

Tag Team Matches heating up

The Street Profits vs The Uso’s stole the show.  Both teams are showing they have can have tremendous chemistry with anyone they work with.  With Chad Gable and Otis also gaining steam as of late, don’t look now, but Smackdown is putting together a pretty healthy roster of Tag Teams.

All four champs retain

The show closed with Charlotte Flair, Becky Lynch, The Uso’s and Roman Reigns retaining their championships.  Is anyone really surprised?  The only major twist (the rope broke) was the way Roman Reigns defeated The Demon.

For a second, I think we all wanted to believe that The Demon was about to pull off the shocker.  In the end, the reign of Roman Reigns is the best thing in WWE and is not ready to end.

It was a good PPV, I enjoyed it.  4 out of 5 stars.
