WWE Draft Night One Takeaways

The first night of the WWE Draft is complete and a few things were certainly game changers.  Sadly, a few major things we wanted to see change, appears that they will go on. Let’s take a look at a few things that jumped out after an interesting first night.

Picks – Roman Reigns and Drew McIntyre staying put as the face of each brand.

Reaction – This is a mild surprise as some had rumored moving Reigns and Paul Heyman to move to RAW to help struggling ratings.  It appears the big two are staying put for now.  If Randy Orton gets drafted to Smackdown on Monday night, that guarantees a McIntyre win at Hell in the Cell.

Picks – Asuka stays on Raw while Sasha Banks remains on Smackdown.

Reaction – Really none.  With Charlotte on the sidelines for the foreseeable future, it appears the WWE will ride the Sasha vs Bayley storyline for as far as they can take it. I was really hoping to see a NXT call up in this spot, but not yet.

Picks – The Hurt Business stays on RAW

Reaction – Who the Hell cares?  What a waste of Bobby Lashley and Shelton Benjamin.  For years the WWE has been accused of racial overtones at times, this pretty much confirms it.  They took almost every African American talent they had, and jammed them in one storyline with The Hurt Business feuding with Apollo Crews and Ricochet. I mean really?
