WWE Day 1 Shocking Ending Sets Up Long Awaited Dream Match

It wasn’t a good night for the smart marks, “smarks” as their indie darlings Richochet and Cesaro lost along with “under rated” Liv Morgan.  On top of that, Big E lost to Brock Lesnar.  Dorks all over the world will go to bed tonight at their parents house cursing Vince McMahon and the WWE, but quite frankly, it was the smartest thing they could have done.

If anything, Liv Morgan, Cesaro and Richochet, all of which lost tonight, are going nowhere fast in the WWE and need to be let go next. The Big E Langston title reign was an epic fail, and when the marquee matchup of Reigns vs Lesnar fell through, they acted quickly and wisely.

The main event lasted all of 8:18 but was outstanding and made the most of a short window.  Only 1 day into the year, it was so good it could actually carry the year and end up being Match of the Year. Bobby Lashley apparently set up his dream match with Lesnar as he put him through a wall and also speared him out of his boots.  I look for that to headline WrestleMania.

How the WWE cleans up the mess with Reigns, Paul Heyman and Brock Lesnar is anyone’s guess, but they sure gave you a reason to tune into RAW and Smackdown for once.  Owens looked strong as he took 2 suplexes and a F5 and just kept coming.  Rollins also walks away looking good.

Here are a few quick takes you can take to the bank.

Liv Morgan will be out of the WWE before WrestleMania.  She may look incredibly hot, but she cannot deliver between the ropes and that is all that matters.

Big E won the title to further push the BLM at the time and add to shock value.  Nothing more, nothing less, but it was awful and it ends now.  He will be getting squashed in his rematch at the Royal Rumble which is sure to happen.  Big E as Champion was never a good fit and no one took it seriously.

Brock Lesnar won’t be champion too long, I see Lashley eventually taking the strap off him in a passing of the guard movement.  And again, it now becomes must watch to see how they wiggle out of this and still lead to a Reigns vs McIntyre match at the Royal Rumble.

I do have this one final question however.  Did Roman Reigns coming down with COVID suddenly result in Big E losing his belt out of nowhere?  Or was the original plan Lashley vs Lesnar all along?

Either way, it’s time for the dream match we’ve always wanted!
