by It is with a heavy heart, and condolences to the Trivisonno family that we pass along the very sad news that Mike Trivisonno has passed away.
Mike was a staple of the Northeast Ohio radio community for decades with his show on WTAM 1100 AM and will be extremely missed. He was 74 at the time of his passing and WTAM made the official announcement earlier this afternoon.
He was taken from his home earlier today in Lyndhurst and rushed to the hospital where he passed away.
I am stunned. This can’t be right. This is just shocking and awful……
So sad he was a good man!
Mike Trivisonno was an amazing talent, and a very kind and decent human being. When I was in broadcasting school back in 1999, his show was first internship. I worked on his talk show for one day – Opening Day that year for The Indians getting the area ready. After we got up early and set up banners around Jacob’s Field, we had time to relax before his show started. He arrived, talked to all of us, then proceeded to ask me all about myself. When I told him about my aspirations to be on the radio, he said; “I just kept showing up wanting to get on the air, and then one day they gave me a job on the air. Don’t give up. Keep trying.” I managed to call his radio show many times in the mid 2000’s and got right through. He was so nice, and he allowed my friend Tim and I to sit in on his show at the studio in 2003. He remembered me from opening day in 1999. I was impressed. Cleveland has lost a giant, and Triv’s family has lost a wonderfully kind and generous man. Rest in peace Triv, and thank you for the laughs and the insights over these many years. Thank you for inviting my friend and I into your house at WTAM. There will never be another like you. I am so happy I got you to laugh. A few months ago, I called asking Triv to play the joke back that I told him LIVE on the air, in which I hooked him in and made him laugh. “I remember that. You got me good. I’ll see if we can find it for you.” He said. You were so cool, Triv. Rest easy, sir. You’ve earned it.
