Why We Are Headed For The Greatest NBA Season In 10 Years

The last time the NBA was this wide open and fun to watch was 2007. If you Cavalier fans recall, they made the NBA Finals that season against San Antonio and the future appeared bright.

A few weeks after that series was over, the Boston Celtics formed a super team and the NBA hasn’t been the same since.

While Danny Ainge formed the 2008 NBA Champion Boston Celtics via trades for Kevin Garnett and Ray Allen to join Paul Piece, ever since then it has been free agent conclusion and forced trades to somewhat corrupt the NBA.

Now, here’s the thing, break down the word, “Free” Agent. It is just that, these players are free to do whatever they want and pick who to play for.

You cannot hold that against them.  All that aside, the league has been a lot less fun to watch since then because it just seemed that there was only 1 or 2 teams that could win each season since.

For example, the four years LeBron was with the Heat, you knew that the Heat would be in the finals each year. They stacked that team with Bosh, Wade and James.

Now, granted, if it wasn’t for a Ray Allen miracle shot in 2013, they may have been just a total bust, only winning 1 championship in that four year stretch James was there.  The Allen shot at least got them two rings. But the Big 3, made the regular season almost unwatchable.

Furthermore, the last five years have been dominated by the Golden State Warriors. Had it not been for a series of injuries, they would be coming off of a third straight championship and a fourth in five years.

The angering part here is Kevin Durant going there after 2016. Reason being, it was set up to be an epic feud between Cleveland and Golden State until Kevin Durant joined the Warriors and made them impossible to beat.

The Warriors were self-made before he got there, as all three, Steph Curry, Klay Thompson and Draymond Green were drafted there. None of which, high profile players at the time either. Durant showing up there, just took the fun out of it.

Let’s face the facts here, Durant going to Golden State made them unbeatable in a seven-game series. If it wasn’t for Curry getting sick, Klay Thompson getting hurt and Durant getting hurt, you wouldn’t have seen the Toronto Raptors hoist championship gold last month.  If anything, the Warriors would have swept through them, or atleast won it in five.

Trust me, this article isn’t to talk about how great the Warriors run was, I think my keyboard will melt if I say any more nice thing about them.

The point is for the first time in many years, because of an incredible offseason the NBA is now wide open for the taking.

Don’t believe me? Let’s break it down by the biggest moves of the offseason and how it will produce the greatest NBA season in history.  Not only that, but teams that made no moves and still remain dangerous.
