Westlake Tops Buckeye On The Diamond 7-6

Westlake Varsity Demons ran off with the lead late in the game in a 7-6 victory over Buckeye Bucks Varsity on Thursday.  The game was tied at five with Westlake Varsity Demons batting in the bottom of the fifth when Hugh Sullivan grounded out, scoring one run.

 

There was plenty of action on the basepaths as Westlake Varsity Demons collected eight hits and Buckeye Bucks Varsity had ten.

Buckeye Bucks Varsity got things moving in the first inning, when an error scored one run for Buckeye Bucks Varsity.

 

Westlake Varsity Demons tallied three runs in the fourth inning.  Westlake Varsity Demons scored its runs on a home run by Matthew Randar.

Evan Kortes was the winning pitcher for Westlake Varsity Demons. The pitcher lasted five innings, allowing eight hits and five runs while striking out one.  Greyson Elyederani threw two innings in relief out of the bullpen.  Elyederani recorded the last six outs to earn the save for Westlake Varsity Demons.

 

Tanner Aungst took the loss for Buckeye Bucks Varsity. Aungst went four innings, allowing five runs on five hits and striking out one.

 

Westlake Varsity Demons hit two home runs on the day. Chris Protos had a four bagger in the second inning. Randar put one out in the fourth inning.

 

Westlake Varsity Demons totaled eight hits.  Randar and Protos all managed multiple hits for Westlake Varsity Demons.  Randar went 3-for-3 at the plate to lead Westlake Varsity Demons in hits.

Buckeye Bucks Varsity racked up ten hits on the day.  Preston DiMarco and Ben Barnes each collected multiple hits for Buckeye Bucks Varsity.
