Westlake RB Matthew Porcelli Wins Jenny’s Old Fashioned Popcorn Player of the Week

There were many fine performances in Week 9 of Ohio School Football, but perhaps none bigger and better than Matthew Porcelli of Westlake High School who’s 205 yards and 4 second half touchdowns helped secure a 54-49 at North Olmsted for his Demons.

When the Friday Night GLC Showcase between the visiting Westlake Demons and North Olmsted Eagles reached halftime Friday night with the home team up 21-14, we had already seen several big plays and big performances, but the best was yet to come.  In a second half for the ages, Demon running back Matthew Porcelli had the night of his life!  The Westlake running back went off for a game high 205 rushing yards and 4 touchdowns, all of those scores coming in the second half.

Perhaps what makes it even more incredible, is that twice in the closing minutes of the game, when tied, and then down 1, the Demons relied heavily on drives that consisted of heavy dosages of Porcelli to give them the lead, twice.  Once with only 18 seconds left, after the Eagles appeared to score the game winning touchdown of their own.  It was dramatic, and it was memorable!

These old SWC rivals, now GLC rivals had one of the greatest games I’ve ever been honored to cover in my 5 years running Kee On Sports, and 9 years covering High School Football!

We also want to give a shout out to North Olmsted Wide Receiver Collin Willard with 12 catches for 264 yards and 4 touchdown catches.

The Demons wrap up the regular season this Friday night as they host Elyria Catholic in an attempt to go 7-3 heading into the postseason.
