Westlake Demons Top North Olmsted Eagles With Complete Game

This recap is brought to you by – https://keeonsports.com/sponsors/

WESTLAKE, OH – The Lady Demons used a massive second half to cruise to a 73-29 victory at home over the visiting North Olmsted Eagles as the GLC’s two newest teams went at it. The Demons saw nine girls make the score sheet while being led by Abbie Gardner with 17.  Morgan Kress continues to look strong as she finished with 12 points while scoring in every quarter.  Katie Whitesell finished with 9 while Lauryn Stanton poured in 7 more.

The Eagles were led by Brooklyn Beeman with 10 and her counterpart Amber Thomas with 8.  Both Thomas and Beeman are very talented and capable of big numbers this season.  I like what I see out of Mary Bokisa as well, she is physical under the boards.  Coming off the bench to score 4 for the Eagles tonight was Rahaiila Kimolo.

The games first points wouldn’t come until 3 minutes into the first quarter on an Amber Thomas layup.  After that however, the points came fast and furious for the remaining 5 plus minutes of the quarter. Abbie Gardner would use turnovers and second chances to score the next 6 points in about 35 seconds flat.  From there, the Demons outscored the Eagles 10-8 the rest of the quarter to take a 16 – 10 lead into the second quarter. Gardner led all scorers in the quarter with 7.

For a building program like North Olmsted to only be down by 6 to Westlake was a great sign.  Sadly, for the Eagles, the Demons took full control in the second and pretty much ended all doubt by halftime.  The Demons used a smothering defensive attack to outscore the Eagles 18-5 in the second.

It was still tight at one point in the second quarter however, as the Eagles only trailed 23-15 with 2:21 t go in the first half.  It was then that the Demons took off and closed out the quarter on a 11-0 run to lead 34 – 15 at the half. The Demons were led in that surge by Lydia Tymoszczuk with 6 as she has her second “and one” of the game along with a three ball.  Gardner had 6 more points in the quarter as well.

The Demons expanded the lead to 47-22 after three quarters but they were not about to sit on a 25 point lead as they exploded for 26 more in the fourth.  8 different Lady Demons would score in a blitzkrieg of points.  Gardner had 4, Kerr had 2, Kolocouris and Kress had three balls, Rachel Nash had 3, Lauryn Stanton went off for 7 while Tymoszzcuk and Anna Williams had two each.
