Westlake Demons Down Normandy Invaders 16-6 on Senior Night

Week 9 of Ohio High School Football Friday Night Lights saw the annual celebration take place
for the Westlake Demons during Senior Night.

The Demons got their own part started very quietly with a 30-yard field goal from K #49 Jacob
Lenz on the opening drive of the game. Westlake’s defense dished out key stops in the first
quarter, forcing a punt and a turnover on downs to conclude the opening 12 minutes with a 3-0
lead.

Normandy wouldn’t fold like a bad poker hand, though. They came to spoil senior night. QB #10
Jakob Muniak would find WR #1 Mario Stewart for a 29-yard touchdown in the middle of the
second quarter to give the Invaders a 3-point advantage. Normandy would take this lead into the
break after an exchange of punts leading to halftime.

The halftime pep talk must have dug deep into the seniors, as the Demons’ class of 2026 stepped up big in the third quarter.

After a punt pinning the Invaders inside their own 5, the Demons’ seniors dug the ball from Normandy RB #12 Jai Hebebrand, forcing a fumble. Taking advantage of the field position, Senior RB #32 Jake Ostrowski found the goal line from 6 yards out to give Westlake their second lead of 10-6.

Another forced punt led to great field position again for the Demons, and for the second time of the period, Ostrowski would find the endzone to give Westlake its largest lead of the night at 16-6 at the end of the third quarter.

Normandy would have multiple chances to get themselves back into the ball game, but
tremendous defensive efforts from Westlake forced two turnovers on downs, and inevitably,
Normandy would run out of time; Final score Normandy 6, Weslake 16.

Coming up next for Normandy 1-8 (0-6) will cap their season off next week against Valley Forge,
Friday at 7 PM. As for the victors, Westlake 3-6 (1-5) will finish off their season on the road,
Friday at 7 PM in North Olmsted.
