Week 7 Northeast Ohio Football Top Five

Cleveland Heights Tigers (5-1, Last Week: 41-0 vs. Strongsville)

The Tigers improved to 3-0 in their first season in the GCC with a 41-0 shutout of Strongsville. Star RB Marquise Davis made the most of his limited opportunities with 103 yards and four touchdowns on just eight carries. Cleveland Heights will continue GCC play this week when they travel to Solon to take on the Comets (1-5).

 

Riverside Beavers (6-0, Last Week: 56-8 vs. Willoughby South)

While a lot of the focus in Division II is on Avon, Hoban, and Massillon, the Beavers continued their hot start with a 56-8 win over Willoughby South in WRC action. QB Mikey Maloney finished the contest with four touchdowns, three on the ground, and both Jason Mackey and Kendall McCaleb added rushing scores. Riverside will travel to Eastlake this week to take on the North Rangers (2-4).

 

Wadsworth Grizzlies (5-1, Last Week: 19-13 @ Hudson)

The Grizzlies put themselves in the Suburban League- National Conference driver’s seat with a come-from-behind 19-13 win at Hudson. RB Kyle Figuray finished with 96 yards on the ground, while QB Will Stack finished with 138 yards on 20 carries and 156 yards through the air. First place in the league will be on the line Friday night when Wadsworth travels to Nordonia (6-0).

 

Walsh Jesuit Warriors (6-0, Last Week: 43-13 @ St. Vincent St. Mary)

Region 5 is by far one of the toughest in the state, and the Warriors find themselves in the number one spot after a 43-13 romp over St. Vincent St. Mary. RB Brock Sherman left the game in the first quarter with an ankle injury but still managed to put up 89 yards and two scores. Walsh Jesuit faces a monumental task this week when they take on the Hoban Knights (5-0).
