Week 7 Northeast Ohio Football Top Five

Just Missed

Glenville Tarblooders (4-2, Last Week: 28-27 @ St. Edward)

The Tarblooders reminded everyone why they are one of the top teams in the state with a 28-27 win over St. Edward, arguably one of the biggest wins in school history. CJ Newell gave the Eagles’ defense headaches all night, finishing with 203 total yards. A huge Week 8 matchup against Hoban is on the horizon, but first Glenville will take on Rhodes (4-2).

St. Edward Eagles (3-3, Last Week: 27-28 vs. Glenville, Previous Rank: 4)

The Eagles are in unfamiliar territory after dropping their second straight game, including last week’s 28-27 heartbreaking loss to Glenville. St. Edward was able to find success through the air, as Thomas Csanyi finished with 355 yards passing and three touchdowns and Zach Hackleman finished with five catches for 190 yards and three scores. The Eagles will look to right the ship this week when they take on rival St. Ignatius (1-5) at Baldwin Wallace.

Wadsworth Grizzlies (6-0, Last Week: 21-14 (OT) vs. Hudson)

The Grizzlies faced their first tough test of the season and came away with an overtime victory over the Explorers. Freshman quarterback Brysen Hall’s touchdown pass in overtime proved to be the game-winner and he finished with 106 yards through the air. The Suburban League National Conference title could be on the line this week when Wadsworth hosts Nordonia (6-0).
