Horns up

A 4th quarter takeover from the Longhorns put them over theĀ  Crimson Tide with a final score of 34-24. In my previous article about the Week 2 AP Poll, I picked Texas to jump into the top 5 if they won, and look what happened. They won on the road against Nick Saban and pushed them to the 4 spot. And like I said previously, Alabama wouldn’t be punished too harshly as they drop to the number 10 spot. The game was close throughout the match with Quinn Ewers throwing for 349 yards and 3 touchdowns. This was a staple win for Texas and a tough loss that doesn’t kill Alabama but the team can’t afford another loss for any chance to push into the top 4. Texas (2-0) moves from 11 to 4 and Alabama (1-1) drops from 3 to 10.

Colorado Continues to Rise

Prime Times team continues to shine with another victory against Nebraska 36-14. Shedeur Sanders threw for 393 yards and 4 total touchdowns. This kid is playing some good football and is hot to start the season. Xavier Weaver had a monster game as well with 10 receptions for 170 yards and a touchdown. Under Sean Lewis’s offense, they have posted 81 points and 1,019 total yards. This unit is looking like a force to be reckoned with. Nebraska falls to 0-2 on the year and is really struggling offensively. With Matt Rhule as the new head coach, you would expect more out of this team. The way Nebraska is playing it might be another disappointing year. Colorado moves to 2-0 and jumps from 22 to 18 with a game against Colorado State next week.

Ole Miss Takes Care of Business

It was a dominant 4th quarter for Ole Miss putting up 20 points to Tulane’s 3 which closed the deal on this game. Ole Miss won the game 37-20 on the road but it wasn’t impressive from Ole Miss though. The team went 1/13 on 3rd down conversions, lost the time of possession battle, and ran 19 fewer plays than Tulane. Tulane was in a close game tied with Ole Miss heading into the 4th quarter but just fell apart in the 4th. That loss cost them their spot in the top 25. Ole Miss (2-0) jumps from 20 to 17 while Tulane (1-1) gets the boot from the top 25. Ole Miss has some tough games coming up that can make or break their season and will need to perform better for a chance to win.

My Thoughts on the Top 25

Texas beats Alabama and they don’t jump FSU? Nick Saban’s Alabama is always the team to beat in college football and Texas did it on the road… Beating Alabama is more impressive than beating LSU, and with that, I think Texas should’ve been 3 and FSU to stay at 4. Next, I’m happy Clemson finally got the boot from the top 25, that should’ve been done last week. Miami moves in after beating a ranked Texas A&M team, Iowa replaces Clemson, and Washington State beats a ranked Wisconsin team and moves in, all rightfully so. Lastly, North Carolina dropped 3 spots but I’m not sure they deserved to be behind Oklahoma. Being behind Colorado and Ole Miss I understand but to go from 17-20 for winning ain’t right.

My Next Week Jump Pick

Could the #1 team in the country fall? I think so, South Carolina plays Georgia this Saturday at 3:30 with this being my game of the week. The opportunity is right in front of Spencer Rattler to put the country on notice. This kid is something special and upsets happen all the time in college football. South Carolina is an underrated team that can compete with anybody in the country. If South Carolina does win they will fly into the Top 10, with Georgia taking a bigger hit to their ranking than Alabama or LSU because they would’ve lost to an unranked team. Watch out for the Gamecocks this Saturday as a sneaky little upset pick. Maybe even take them to cover the spread or the over because I can see these teams putting up some points.
