Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio – The Walsh Jesuit Warriors defeated visiting Padua, 14-2, in Crown Conference play Wednesday night.

First quarter conditions were less than ideal to start off the night, as the teams began action under a downpour.

Amelia Dillon scored the first goal at the 7:33 mark of the first quarter to give Walsh Jesuit an early 1-0 lead. Lauren Vitantonio added another goal to increase the lead to 2-0. Corinne Sanders, Vitantonio, and Jackie Holtzer all scored in the frame, as Walsh Jesuit led 5-0 after the first.

Once the skies began to clear in the second quarter, the Warrior offense found the back of the net five more times.

Jackie Holtzer scored as the rain started to clear up in the second quarter. Lauren Vitantonio scored, and Holtzer scored once more, increasing the score to 8-0. Maddie Rogers scored late in the first half off an assist from Lauren Vitantonio to increase the lead to 9-0. The two connected once more, as Rogers added another goal, increasing the margin to 10-0 going into the halftime break.

The Warrior offense added three more goals in the third quarter, from Jackie Holtzer, Amelia Dillon, and Lauren Vitantonio.

Padua got both of their goals in the fourth quarter from junior Emma Takacs and freshman Smilla Cohagan. Takacs’ goal broke up the shutout with 7:31 remaining. Walsh Jesuit got a fourth-quarter goal from freshman midfielder Camden Miller.

Junior attack Jackie Holtzer scored five goals and an assist. Senior attack and Akron commit Lauren Vitantonio had four goals and a pair of assists. Corinne Sanders and Maddie Rogers each scored a pair of goals for the Warriors.

Senior goalie Mia Kavlick and junior goalie (Gannon commit) Kate Feliciano combined to allow just two goals, being part of the impressive defensive effort put forth by the Warriors.

Walsh Jesuit finishes the week with road trips to Revere Thursday night and Kenston Saturday afternoon. Padua hosts Beaumont next Wednesday, April 10th to continue Crown Conference play.
