VIDEO: Chagrin Falls Tops Rival Kenston, 16-10

Bainbridge Twp., Ohio – The Chagrin Falls Tigers defeated the host Kenston Bombers, 16-10, on Thursday night at Bomber Stadium.

Kenston struck first just over four minutes into action, thanks to a goal from junior midfielder Carmella Nillson. Chagrin Falls responded with a goal from Emma Thatcher less than a minute later, knotting the score.

The Tigers would score three of the next four goals over the next three minutes, coming from Mary-Claire Hldren, Emma Thatcher, and Alex Chinnici. Chagrin would lead 5-3 after the first quarter.

The two teams combined for nine goals in the second quarter, with Chagrin Falls outscoring Kenston, 6-3, to take an 11-6 lead at the halftime break. The Tigers’ goals came from Emma Thatcher, Mary-Claire Hldren, Lyla Breedan, and Bailey Corto. Kenston’s three goals came from Alexis Black and Carmella Nillson. Nillson scored less than 30 seconds later after Emma Thatcher’s third goal, which occurred at the 10:45 mark of the second quarter.

Chagrin Falls outscored Kenston, 3-1, in the third quarter to increase their lead to 14-7. The Tiger goals all came from Alex Chinnici, Bailey Corto, and Brix Neithammer. Kenston midfielder Alexis Black scored her third goal of the game at the 3:02 mark of the third quarter.

Emma Thatcher scored her fourth and fifth goals of the game in the fourth quarter to increase the lead to 16-7. Mariela Macias scored once, and Alexis Black twice for Kenston for the final margin.

Chagrin Falls (3-1) hosts undefeated Walsh Jesuit Saturday, April 13th, at 2pm.

Kenston (4-3) hosts Archbishop Hoban Saturday, April 13th, at 12:30pm.
