Normandy (4-1) coming into tonight squared off with Valley Forge (3-2) in more than a cross town rivalry. Both schools trying to attract the influx of players that will be available when the Parma Redmen close their doors after the 2023 school year. Valley Forge started the game by trying an onside kick to no avail.
Normandy took advantage and on 4th and one from the Forge 12, quarterback Elijah Gray would fumble the snap and teammate Kairo Dillard picked it up and scored a TD. E
The Patriots would answer quickly and it was 7-6 Patriots. Valley Forge didnt stop there and neither did Shane Ward as the big 6’2 tailback capped off a 90 Patriot drive early in the second and Valley Forge lead 14-6. Elijah Thomas would then add another Forge TD on 3 yard scamper and it was 21-6 Patriots.
Now with 1 minute left in half, Normandy went for it in 4th and 2 from there own 28 and failed. Junior 6’2 quarterback Dan Kiewel would make them pay as he would add yet another Valley Forge touchdown to make it 18-6 at half time.
Shane Ward would score again on first drive of second half and the Valley Forge Patriots with 49 unanswered beat Normandy 49-6.
This sets up big GLC Showdown October first as Valley Forge will take on the Holy Name Green Wave for bragging rights.
