USFL Changes Kicking Balls

The USFL has decided to change the balls they kick with.  This decision was made after week one when placekickers went a dismal  5 of 13 field-goal attempts.  It was so bad, that not a single kicker made more than one field goal attempt in Week 1.

What was causing all the balls to get shanked?  The sensor technology device in the game balls that was being used was throwing off the ball when kicked.  These balls were part of the league’s test of sensor technology to most accurately measure the spot of the ball as it relates to the first-down marker.

The balls with the sensor in them will continued to be used for throwing and passing, but special teams balls will be sensor free.
