The United States women’s ice hockey team is staying hot in Milan and continues its win streak to four. The US faced off against Switzerland on Monday, February 9, before taking on Canada on Tuesday, February 10. The women will begin their quarter-final round when they take on Italy on Friday, February 13, at 3:10 p.m. ET, and can be viewed on USA Network or streamed on Peacock.
Monday, February 9
Haley Winn scored the United States first goal at 6:04 in the first frame on Monday and got help from Caroline Harvey and Hilary Knight. The remainder of the period went without a goal, but Rory Guilday served a two-minute penalty for the US at 12:31 for tripping.
Switzerland began the second period serving a two-minute penalty at 5:50 for an illegal hit, and the US was unable to take advantage of the power-play. Joy Dunne scored an unassisted goal for the United States at 14:08 to put them ahead by two. Abbey Murphy served a late two-minute penalty at 18:36 for an illegal hit before closing out the second frame.
The United States came into the final frame hot, with Hannah Bilka scoring at 1:17 with help from Taylor Heise and Caroline Harvey. Alex Carpenter followed up just minutes later with her own goal at 6:34 with assists from Hilary Knight and Joy Dunne. Only moments later, Caroline Harvey scored the final goal of the game at 7:42, assisted by Alex Carpenter and Joy Dunne. With less than two minutes remaining in the game, both the United States and Switzerland swapped goalkeepers, with the US replacing Gwyneth Philips for Ava McNaughton. Philips stopped 20 shots on goal, and McNaughton saved one, helping to secure a 5-0 victory for the US.
Tuesday, February 10
The most anticipated matchup of the Olympics delivered in full, as the US women dominated Canada from start to finish. Caroline Harvey opened the first period with a goal at 3:45, assisted by Haley Winn and Hilary Knight. Not long after, Canada served their first two-minute penalty for an illegal hit at 6:23, but the US came up empty on the advantage. Hannah Bilka finished the first frame with a goal at 17:18, getting help from Abbey Murphy and Caroline Harvey.
Canada started the second period with a two-minute interference penalty at 0:58, and the US took advantage with Kristen Simms scoring a power-play goal at 1:18 with help from Tessa Janecke and Abbey Murphy. Canada served two more penalties at 1:18 for delaying the game and 7:25 for checking. Hannah Bilka added another tally to the board at 13:00 with an assist from Abbey Murphy and Caroline Harvey. Taylor Heise served a last-second penalty at 19:52 for an illegal hit before the women headed into the locker room.
Canada was assessed a two-minute penalty for holding at 5:12 in the final frame, and the US did not score on the advantage. Cleveland Heights native, Laila Edwards, scored her first career Olympic goal at 11:53 to help the United States secure a 5-0 victory. Aerin Frankel was in goal for the US on Tuesday and saved all 20 shots on goal.

The US men will begin their preliminary round on Thursday, February 12, when they face off against Latvia at 3:10 p.m. ET. The game can be viewed on USA Network or streamed on Peacock.
