How did things get started? The Preppers recovered a fumble on the opening kickoff to start with great field position. A few plays later, junior George Minello scored on a six-yard touchdown run.

Gilmour countered when Jake Kavcic scored a two-yard touchdown run with 5:41 left in the first. The ensuing PAT was blocked, and University kept the lead, 7-6.

In the third quarter, Jake Kavcic eluded a defender and tossed a 65-yard touchdown toss to brother Andy to cut the Lancer deficit to 21-13.

Gilmour scored again, as Andy Kavcic scored a two-yard rushing touchdown to cut their deficit to 28-20 with 8:31 to play.

The University Preppers ate the clock going to their ground game with Jackson Boland and Ryan Pattison, looking to seal the game.

However, Gilmour made a stop on defense and got the ball with 2:07 to play and one last chance to try to force overtime. The Lancers moved into US territory, but Ryan Pattison picked off a pass to ice the game for the Preppers.
