UFC Fight Night Teixeira vs Anthony Smith Hot Takes

This UFC update is brought to you by Chris Walker of Top Tier Performance.  You can out more about them here. https://www.facebook.com/TopTierPerform/?eid=ARCeIZXF219v74jVuA1ucY3mypUc2STO2Uxk_CoIhEh1pERL33oK2tcQrEk1tWU9aTkDw6tz42wJvl-B&timeline_context_item_type=intro_card_work&timeline_context_item_source=100001259948103&fref=tag

4 KO’s on the card provided plenty of action. UFC 249 was very good, but there wasn’t many KO’s, this card fixed that with KO’s by Chase Sherman, Brian Kelleher, Drew Dober and Glover Teixeira.

The latter coming in the main event showing that Teixeira still has some thump in his punch at age 40. He is now a winner of four straight and people are starting to take notice.

The biggest losers on the card where Anthony Smith who can’t seem to win big money fights with the lights on bright. Also, Michael Johnson who lost his re-debut back at 155lbs. Johnson is looking further and further away from the guy who knocked out Dustin Poirier back in 2016 and beat Ferguson by decision in 2012.

Andrei Arlovski continues to prove he is ageless with a convincing decision win over Phillipe Lins. Every time you think the former UFC Heavyweight Champion is done, he just keeps winning. Only time will tell how much longer he keeps going, but it will continue to be fun to watch him in the cage.

The OSP debut at heavyweight didn’t go to well with a split decision loss to UFC Journeyman and 19 year veteran Ben Rothwell. It was a great fight with several big shots landed both ways. OSP has now lost 4 of his last 6 while Rothwell earns his second straight win and is now 6-3 in last 9.

Finally, how much more does Drew Dober need to do to show fans he is a legit threat at 155lbs? With his second-round knockout of Alexander Hernandez, he improved to 23-9, but this was his third straight KO and his sixth win in seven fights. Dober has knockout power and will continue to improve each time out.

The UFC keeps up with their busy week as they go at it again on Saturday night in Florida. That card is headlined by Alistair Overeem vs Walt Harris. On the undercard of that one is UFC fan favorite and veteran Matt Brown as well.
