Herbert Burns over Evan Dunham by submission at 1:20 of the first round.
It took Herbert Burns less than 90 seconds to choke out Evan Dunham to start the night. For Dunham, that is now his third straight loss and he is now winless in his last four.
This follows what was a strong three fight win streak before this dip. Dunham was once 11-0 and a rising star in the UFC, but that was back in 2010 and those days are clearly done now.
Burns made it look easy and put the UFC on notice that the family may have two future champions in the making. They have had a fine last few weeks to put it mildly!
Devin Clark over Alonzo Menifield by Decision 30-27, 29-28, 29-28
Clark improves to 12-4 overall and 6-4 in the UFC. Clark did a great job working through the tough takedown defense of Menifield until finally breaking through and slamming him late into the fight to seal the deal.
Alex Perez TKO by Leg Kick over Jussier Formiga in the first round
I’m not sure anyone could have stood up to the kicks of Perez tonight. He looked like a man on a mission and he wasn’t working by the hour. Wow! Afterwards Perez made it known he wants a title shot soon!
Mar Pitolo via TKO over Charles Byrd
After an impressive first round for Charles Byrd in which he controlled the ground game, he came out winded in the second and Pitolo pounced with a flurry.
For Byrd, he has now lost three straight fights by KO while Pitolo appears to have a very bright future. He looked quick and smart in the second round, not wasting any energy to put Byrd away.
Cody Stamann over Brian Kelleher by decision 30-27 across the board
Stamann looked really good at 145 and fought an emotional fight. Kelleher was on a roll but Cody Stamann came in with a heavy heart and fought the best performance of his career. A week after losing his 18-year-old brother, Stamann stepped up big tonight.
Ian Heinisch via TKO over Gerald Meerschart in the first round at 1:14
Well, if you blinked, you may have missed it. Ian Heinisch wasted no time mowing down Gerald Meerschart. It was an easy night at the office for Heinisch as he caught Meerschart early, pounced on him and it was over shortly thereafter. They call him a Hurricane and he was tonight. He is now a winner of 6 of his last 8.
Alex Caceres defeats Chase Hooper via decision 30-27, 30-27, 30-27
The fast track to success for the teenage sensation Hooper came to a halt at the hands of Caceres tonight. The outcome was never in doubt as the stage appeared to be too big for Hooper at times and Caceres handled him masterfully.
