The 2019 UFC calendar has perhaps their biggest card of the year this weekend at UFC 245. For only the fifth time in company history a pay per view will feature three big championship fights.
Also, featuring legends such as Jose Aldo & Uriah Faber. It will be a can’t miss show at T-Mobile Arena in front of a packed house!
Let’s get right to it with some quick predicts you can read on your next protein shake break.
Jessica Eye will look to get back on the winning track and I believe she will with a second round KO over Viviane Araujo.
In a clash of two UFC veterans, it will be Matt Brown colliding with Ben Saunders. Two guys who got their start on The Ultimate Fighter will enter the cage for one last shot at glory.
I believe Matt Brown will pick up only his second KO finish since 2015. He has lost 5 of 7, but I don’t see Brown being done yet.
At 11-1, Mike Perry was once the next big thing. My how the times have changed, he has lost 4 of his last 6 and has looked burnt out. Geoff Neal finishes fights, and does it violently. At 12-2, 9 of his wins have come via KO or submission.
Both guys know how to win big and give the fans a show. This will be a shootout and I fully expect to see Neal keep rolling.
The California Kid Uriah Faber who is far past his prime and years of a being a “kid”, may just be in the midst a career rebirth. Faber looked brilliant in his comeback fight with a devastating 47 second KO over Ricky Simon. It was his first fight in 3 years, and he didn’t look rusty at all.
Faber’s opponent Saturday, Petr Yan will be taking him seriously. Yan is 13-1 and 5-0 in the UFC with big wins over John Dodson & Jimmie Rivera.
This will be a great fight and I see Yan ending the comeback story of Faber in a tight decision.
Speaking of legends looking to make one last run, Jose Aldo will also be on the main card as he takes on Marlon Moraes who is fresh off challenging Henry Cejudo for the bantamweight title. Again, we have a former great versus exciting up and comer.
My money is on Jose Aldo in this one. I believe he will take Moraes into deep waters and choke him out in the late third round.
I will finish this off with a pick three for those of you looking to parlay the championship fights.
Pick
Nunes – Best female fighter in MMA history with no one else even close.
Holloway – He has won 14 of 15 fights and is one of the best fighters in the world. His losses our to men like Dustin Poirier twice and Connor McGregor. Holloway is no joke and I just don’t feel like Alexander Volkanovski has the skill set to beat him.
Usman – Two great fighters and myself and Eli Mooneyham called the rise of The Nigerian Nightmare after his victory at UFC 210 in Buffalo over Sean Strickland. He is 15-1, a winner of 14 straight with the last 10 in a row in the UFC.
No one has come even close to touching him.
Out of his 10 wins in the UFC, only 2 of them have come with a finish as the other 8 were via decision. It doesn’t matter, ask GSP if it matters? Just win baby, and that is what Usman does.
