Turnovers and Special Teams Sink Cleveland Browns in 34-10 Loss to Detroit Lions

DETROIT, OH – Some things are as simple as this, so we will keep it short and sweet this week as the Cleveland Browns lost again today, this time 34-10 to the Detroit Lions. People will blame this loss on Joe Flacco and the special teams, quite frankly, they should! What a lousy effort again.  The two biggest reasons the Cleveland Browns lost were turnovers ( all 3 by Flacco ) and terrible special teams.

The Detroit Lions scored 17 points off turnovers.  This included two first half interceptions, both converted into points as the Lions got 10 from them.  Then late in the game, a Flacco fumble was converted into another touchdown.  17 big points for Detroit, literally half of what they scored.

The other issue for Cleveland was terrible special teams once again.  They missed a field goal when they were only down 20-10, they would have cut it to a one score game with 3:50 left in the third quarter, instead, it put them in a bigger hole, giving the ball back to Detroit.

Then, still only down by 10 at 20-10 with almost the entire fourth quarter remaining, they gave up a 65-yard punt return for a touchdown from Kalif Raymond, pretty much putting the game away.

So, to recap.

17 points off turnovers and 10 points special teams cost them.  That is 27 huge points.

Final score Detroit 34 Cleveland 10

That is 24 points when they cost themselves 27 points.

Again, it is just that simple.
