(2) Mankind vs The Undertaker at King of the Ring 1998
Summary – Had it not been for our number one selection being perhaps one of the greatest matches in the history of pro wrestling, than this would have easily taken the top spot. It’s the match that made this gimmick famous, and also helped Mick Foley reach a level of stardom many never thought possible.
It has been 22 years, and fans still watch the replay over and over again in awe. For a moment, many thought Mark Calloway who plays The Undertaker, made a tragic mistake and launched Foley off the cage through the tables below. It turns out this was supposed to happen and Foley volunteered to take the most vicious bump in the history of Pro Wrestling.
When it seemed like the match was over only 45 seconds in, things got even crazier as Mankind began to get up and off the stretcher wheeling him away. Once again, we all sat there shocked as Mankind began to scale the cage again where The Undertaker was waiting for him.
Then in shocking fashion, it was Mankind flying through the cage after a vicious chokeslam. The cage gave in and a chair slammed onto his face upon the fall. The blow was so brutal that it knocked him out.
It still wasn’t enough to end the match as it proceeded for 20 more brutal minutes including Mankind getting slammed onto a bed of thumbtacks. When it was finally over, it would easily go down as the most famous match of both men’s career and seemed like it would be impossible to top.
