Top 15 Women In The WWE Modern Era

5-1

Becky Lynch

Her rise in late 2018, and then all of 2019 was Stone Cold Steve Austin like.  It reminded me of the popularity of The Rock and Austin in the Attitude Era.  No female superstar has ever, and may never again reach that level of stardom.

The crazy thing is that Lynch already had a tremendous career going for herself before the explosion. She was well liked, great in the ring and fans loved her.  Then, she turned it up a notch.  The lasting image of her invading RAW with her troops, and then standing there with a bloody face in victory will never be forgotten.  She never again has to step in the ring to be known as one of the GOATS.

Trish Stratus

The sexiest woman to ever compete in Professional Wrestling. That alone could have made for a long career.  However, that was only the groundwork for what became one of the most successful in ring careers of all time.

A 7-time Women’s Champion and before Becky Lunch came along, perhaps the most popular female superstar of all time. Stratus proved that she was much more than looks with incredible in ring work, and a great attitude on the microphone.

She was good as a face, but INCREDIBLE as a heel. Her feud with Lita is one of the greatest in Women’s Wrestling history.  She was a legend and deserves every last ounce of credit that comes her way.

Alexa Bliss

She is as cute as a button, and deadly as a dagger.  This is one woman you don’t want to mess with.  In under 5 years of being on the WWE roster, she has done it all!  NXT didn’t even come close to showing us what she was capable of.

Since showing up on the WWE’s main roster she was won World Titles on Raw & Smackdown.  She and Nikki Cross went on to become multi time tag Champions.  She has hosted WrestleMania and also won the women’s MITB ladder match.

Just when you thought you saw it all with Bliss, she ad’s another tremendous element to her character by entering the Dark Side and joining The Fiend.  She is absolutely incredible with whatever persona she chooses to take on.  From cocky heel and cute babyface, to twisted sidekick or headliner.  Bliss has shown nothing is out of her element. When you combine all of her talents, only Bayely is better.

I’m talking the ability to get over as a face, a heel, in ring work and mike work. You will see that Charlotte tops this list, but we will to get to why that is in a second.  For now, Bliss deserves the three spot.  The fact that the WWE had her as low as they did, makes me believe they don’t realize the pure gold they have with her.

Bayley

She is on the fast track to becoming the best there was, is and ever will be.  The fact that she doesn’t have a single one on one Title match at WrestleMania is a crime. She showed all of you what she can do on her own in 2020.

Listen, it’s just this simple.  She has the in-ring skill of Bret Hart, the smiling good guy fan love of John Cena, and the cocky heel heat of Ric Flair.  Bayley is often overlooked and that is just a straight crime.  She was the original WWE Female Grand Slam Champion.

She competed in some of the greatest matches NXT has ever seen with Sasha Banks. Fans would have thought it would be impossible for her to ever be a heel, she has shown you how versatile she is by becoming a fantastic heel.

Bayley is beyond skilled in every area needed to be.  If she keeps going at this rate, I can honestly see her topping this list next year.  However, Charlotte may have something to say about that.

Charlotte

Much like with Nikki Bella, Charlotte is a casualty of “The Rub” and that is just wrong.  She is the greatest female superstar of all time.  It’s close between her and Bayley, but by way of title reigns I have to give it to the Queen.

She’s a natural heel and the WWE is learning that way every time they fail to turn her face. She may be the most natural athlete on the roster as well.  She is flawless in the ring, and also has the look.  The only thing she needs a slight improvement on is not sounding as robotic on the microphone. Ironically enough, her best promo was an emotional tongue lashing of her father a few weeks back.

Ashley Fliehr the person, is every bit as incredible.  Go back and read the book, “Second Nature” and it will give you a firsthand look at how much she has actually overcome. Right now she is in a weird spot that can see her WWE career go either way.  With her soon to be husband “Andrade” gone, only time will tell if she follows.  We hope not!

She is a 10X world Champion.  A Tag Champion and a WWE Royal Rumble winner.  She is only 34 years old.  The sky is the limit for Charlotte.  Gone are the days of talking about if she can become the greatest Female Superstar of the Modern era, the real discussion is “can she become the Greatest Superstar ever” period!
