Nikki Bella
This is one that the WWE got dead wrong with their ranking. By placing her with her sister, saddled her down. She showed in late 2014 – late 2015 just how good she was on her own. Fans give her grief because of the rub dating John Cena will get you, that was not the reason she excelled.
Nikki Bella is a natural athlete. She was great on the microphone, had a tremendous look and was very inspiring to many. She was tremendous and I do not feel she will ever get the proper credit she deserves.
Lita
While the “Women’s Revolution” didn’t get its label until 2015, Lita showed signs of it in 2000. She was a new kind of female superstar in the WWF and the fans loved it. So many current female superstars have credited Lita to being the reason they got started in the business.
What was perhaps the best part of Lita was that she was the most popular women of the Attitude Era, and then became the most hated of the post Attitude Era for a stretch. She could make you love her, make you hate her, and then dazzle you in the ring. She was truly one of a kind!
Sasha Banks
Fans will complain that she is not higher on this list. The one person keeping Sasha Banks from reaching a higher spot, is Sasha Banks. No one can deny her in ring ability but that is where it ends for me. Her matches are excellent, and that is why she is here.
The reason I don’t have her higher is because of her promo work and combined days of being champion. I don’t buy her as a heel, but I buy her even less as a face. I don’t know what it is, but she is tough to get behind, and also tough to boo.
Sadly, her appearance on The Stone-Cold Sessions was the only episode I didn’t enjoy. She just doesn’t come across as a sincere person. A sense of entitlement almost. Again, I’ve never met the woman and I can very easily be dead wrong. I hope that I am quite frankly.
She is a grand slam champion, with titles held in NXT, WWE, both Tag and Singles. She is also a trailblazer as Charlotte and herself were the first women to headline a WWE PPV. Nothing will take that away, but this current persona on Smackdown simply isn’t working.
Alundra Blayze
TRAILBLAZER! For years women’s wrestling in WWF was extinct from 1985-1993. In the late 90’s it was all about the Bra and Panties. Well, in the middle of all of that was Alundra Blayze from late 93-95 who came in and tore it up!
She shined in WCW as Madusa, then showed up in WWF and took it to the next level! Miceli / Blayze was unreal in the ring. She could do it all and proved it time and time again no matter who they put her in the ring with. She had the skills to carry any match she was in.
She didn’t get the chance to show her promo work until she left the WWF and headed back to WCW. When she did, it was clearly memorable.
Asuka
Give it two more years, and she may very well top this list. She is absolutely incredible and a grand slam winner! She has won the NXT Title, the WWE Tag Title, Both the Smackdown and Raw Women’s titles as well. Her undefeated streak while in NXT and the start of her WWE run was legendary. She is also the first winner of the Women’s Royal Rumble.
A dream match is her versus Io Shari, but the WWE has different plans and it will now be her versus Ripley at WrestleMania which should also tear down the house. I’m glad the WWE came to their senses after cooling on her for stretches in 2018 and 2019. Perhaps Becky Lynch getting pregnant is what they needed to jumpstart Asuka’s career.
