Toledo Dominates Texas Southern

Broken School Record

Toledo had a beatdown on Texas Southern with a final score of 71-3. The Rockets broke the school record for most points in a half today by scoring 50 to surpass the previous record of 48 points. Toledo is coming off a close 30-28 loss to Illinois and had a lot of positives to be proud of in an impressive outing against a Big 10 school. At the same time, Texas Southern is coming off a 37-34 loss to the Prairie View A&M Panthers. To open the game, The Rockets almost intercepted Jace Wilson and then proceeded to force a 3 and out. Toledo then drove down the field and scored with no issues on their opening possession. Toledo never looked back after that and continued to carve up the nonexistent Texas Southern defense.

Embarrassing from Texas Southern

TSU were poor in the trenches to simply put it. The team generated no pressure on Dequan Finn, and on the offensive side gave no protection to Jace Wilson. Props to Wilson who tried to extend every play he could and tried to make something out of nothing. But the Texas Southern offense struggled to move the ball resulting in 3 points the whole game.  In the game, Toledo blocked a punt, forced an interception, and recovered a strip sack. Texas Southern got behind too early down 22-0 heading into the 2nd quarter and had no chance of making any sort of comeback with the quality of play on the field. The team never quit and played hard throughout the whole game, but there ain’t much the team can be proud of in this very ugly showing.

Toledo’s Domination

The Rockets O-Line showed up today and was phenomenal for Finn giving him all the time in the world to sit in the pocket and make the correct reads. The ground game had no issues running into the end zone with 5 total team rushing touchdowns on the day. This Toledo team came out and dominated every aspect of this game today. The defense made Jace Wilson’s life miserable sitting in the pocket. Toledo made plays all over the field today, especially on the defensive line. The offense was able to move the chains all throughout the game and was firing on all cylinders. The Texas Southern defense had no answer for the defending Mac champions.
