by The Berea-Midpark Titans continued to surge towards the top of the SWC tonight with their 5th straight victory. This came with a 27-10 victory over the visiting Midview Middies tonight from George Finnie Stadium in Berea.
Senior quarterback Luke Devins went 19 of 27 for 221 yards with two touchdowns. The left handed sensation continues to be the talk of the SWC behind center for the Titans. He has had plenty of help too with a cavalcade of weapons behind him.
Wideout Jack Arnold went off for 75 yards on 6 catches including a 13 yard touchdown. Hudson Devins also had a game to be proud of with 78 yards on 17 carries as he also found the endzone.
Senior wideout Devin Johnson scored on offense and once again played lights out defense as well. Johnson is the real deal on both sides of the ball folks. Also scoring was tight end Josh Medina.
For Midview, their lone touchdown came on the hands of Marc Reed to Connnor Awad pass in the second quarter. The comeback was not meant to be however as the Berea-Midpark defense was just to good as they carried a 20-10 lead into the half and never looked back from there.
Speaking of the Titan defense, they bent tonight at times, but never broke. Midview would get inside Titan territory, but then couldn’t penetrate the defense. The Titans had recorded six sacks of Midview QB Marc Reed tonight. They also forced him into an interception inside of the 10 moments into the game, and cruised from there. Midview also missed several field goals, which did not help their cause.
Berea-Midpark now heads for a showdown with the Avon Eagles, who will also come into next week at 5-2 overall and 3-1 in the SWC. Keep in mind, the Titans may be 5-2 as well, but they are 4-0 in the SWC and that is the difference maker right now.
