The Baldwin Wallace softball team had a great season this past spring. They finished 22-16 overall with an impressive 19-15 record in the conference, good enough for third place behind Mount Union and Muskingum. The Yellow Jackets would go on to advance to the second round of the playoffs.
We caught up with Berea-Midpark Alumni and Yellow Jacket freshman, Bridie Bricker who had plenty to say. We spoke with her about her first year playing in the OAC with BW and all the fun and excitement that comes with playing NCAA athletics.
“My coach and teammates have made my first year of college the best I could ever ask for. Making the switch to BW was the best decision I have ever made. The girls I have met and become good friends with I can say will last a lifetime! I love this team!”, said Bricker.
Bricker had a solid freshman year at the dish. She finished with 11 home runs, 10 doubles, 38 RBI and a 363 batting average. She was voted to the All OAC team. She reflected back on what she learned and what she hopes will come in the future seasons ahead, “My first season at the plate and in the field went really well! But there is always room for improvement! I definitely have some things to work on defensively and offensively. I always want to keep getting better to help my team! “
We at Kee On Sports are very proud of Bridie. She lost her senior season of softball because of the pandemic, so it was nice to see her come back so strong and make an impact. Bricker talked about the adjustment to college ball as well, “The biggest adjustment from high school to college was the culture. The team and all the other varsity teams at our school always supporting one another. Also, the athletic department always feeding positivity!”
