GREENWOOD, Ind. – Three Baldwin Wallace University baseball student-athletes have been selected to the 2024 College Sports Communicators (CSC) NCAA Division III Academic All-District Team.
Junior All-Ohio Athletic Conference outfielder Joey Marousek (North Royalton), sophomore Academic All-OAC second baseman Matt Terzola (Uniontown/Archbishop Hoban), and sophomore All-OAC right-hander and 2024 Kent Tekulve OAC Pitcher of the Year Tyler Walker (Fairlawn/Copley) have all been selected to the CSC Academic All-District Team for the first time in their careers. The three student-athletes now advance to the CSC Academic All-America® ballot, which will be announced on July 2.
Marousek, who earns his first CSC Academic All-District accolade, carries a 3.913 grade point average as an engineering major. This season, he appeared in all 46 games where he hit a team-leading .351 with a career-best 66 hits and 35 RBI from the leadoff spot. Marousek also tallied nine doubles, two triples, and a homer on his way to a .436 on-base percentage and a .436 slugging percentage. He also led the team and was third in the OAC in stolen bases with 23. Marousek was also selected to the OAC All-Tournament Team and to the American Baseball Coaches Association/Rawlings All-Region 7 second team.
In his career, Marousek has appeared in 70 games and has collected 81 hits and 48 RBI. He has a lifetime batting average of .325, an on-base percentage of .416 and has tallied 10 doubles, two triples, and a home run for a slugging percentage of .394. Marousek has also swiped 27 bags in his career.
Off the field, Marousek is an Academic All-OAC honoree and a Dean’s List student.
Terzola also earns his first CSC Academic All-District honor by carrying a 3.889 grade point average as a finance and accounting double major. This season, he appeared in all 46 games where he tallied 35 hits and a career-best 24 RBI on his way to a .267 batting average. Terzola also added eight doubles and was second on the team with nine stolen bases. He finished the season with a career-best .365 on-base percentage and a career-best .328 slugging percentage. Terzola also led the team with 117 assists, was a part of 16 double plays, and recorded a .937 fielding percentage on the defensive side of the ball.
In his career, Terzola has appeared in 88 games where he has gathered 71 hits and 40 RBI. He has a lifetime batting average of .281, an on-base percentage of .363, and a slugging percentage of .324. Terzola has also contributed 11 doubles and 14 stolen bases in his career. Defensively, he has recorded 117 putouts, 209 assists, and 35 double plays for a career fielding perentage of .959.
Off the field, Terzola is an Academic All-OAC honoree and Dean’s List student.
Walker, who also earns his first CSC Academic All-District accolade, carries a 3.638 grade point average as a data analytics major. This season, he made 15 appearances and 12 starts where he pitched a career-best 70.2 innings including his first career complete game against Capital earlier this season. Walker led the OAC with a 9-1 record and also recorded two saves. He allowed 29 runs on 64 hits and 19 walks all while striking out 57 batters. Walker recorded an earned run average of 3.31 and limited opponents to a .238 batting average. He was also named to the American Baseball Coaches Association/Rawlings All-Region 7 second team and the D3baseball.com All-Region 7 team.
In his career, Walker has made 26 appearances and 16 starts and has a career record of 10-2 with three saves. He has struck out 79 batters through 97.2 innings where he has allowed only 49 runs on 90 hits and 33 walks. Walker has a lifetime ERA of 4.05 and has held opponents to a .239 batting average in his career.
Off the field, Walker is an Academic All-OAC honoree and a Dean’s List student.
The Yellow Jackets finished the 2024 campaign with a record of 36-10 and a 15-3 record in conference play where they claimed both the OAC Regular Season and OAC Tournament titles. BW earned its way into the NCAA Tournament for the 11th time in program history and for the third consecutive year.
