He makes a federal case about being the first “African American Bachelor” and then has several moments where he states how uncomfortable with it he is and doesn’t want people to talk about it. Then, he sends one black woman home after another until he stops the show midway through to consider having a random blonde showing up to join the cast.
In the end, he becomes despised by Bachelor Nation as he costs the host Chris Harrison his job. The woman he picks, Rachel, ends up being crucified for a picture she took in college when she was 19 years old in the South. The whole thing is a just a total mess.
The After The Final Rose episode turns out to be an even bigger disaster when he and the bizarrely chosen host Emmanuel Ocho spend 60 straight minutes crucifying poor Rachel as she sat there and begged for mercy. Then after he plays the high and mighty card, once the cameras are off, he ends up taking her back. WHAT A JOKE!
