The Top 25 Running Backs in NFL History.

#10: Earl Campbell, HOU, NO | Texas | ‘78-’85 | 5’11 232

Earl Campbell had a very similar career to those such as Terrell Davis, he had a short career and a short prime but he was absolutely incredible. He delivered some of the best highlights we’ve ever seen to this day, it was unfortunate that he had a short career, but what he did in that time period, lands him in the top 10 all time.

Stats: 9,407 Rush Yds, 74 TD, 806 Rec Yds

Best Year (1980): 373 Rush, 1,934 Rush Yds, 13 TD

Accolades: HOF, 1x MVP, 3x OPOY, 5x Pro Bowl, 3x All-Pro, 3x Rushing Title, 2x TD Leader

#9: O.J. Simpson, BUF, SF | USC | ‘69-’79 | 6’2 212

We all know about Simpson’s off the field problems but we’ll leave that alone today. The Juice absolutely dominated the 1970’s decade, many people have O.J. higher but as I said before, this position is insanely talented and that’s the only reason why he isn’t ranked higher on the list. Also, his 2,000 yard season wasn’t even his best year!

Stats: 11,236 Rush Yds, 61 TD, 2,142 Rec Yds, 14 TD

Best Year (1975): 329 Rush, 1,817 Rush Yds, 16 TD, 28 Rec, 426 Rec Yds, 7 TD

Accolades: HOF, 1x MVP, 1x OPOY, 6x Pro Bowl, 5x All-Pro, 4x Rushing Title, 2x TD Leader

#8: Marshall Faulk, IND, STL | San Diego State | ‘94-’05 | 5’10 211

When I hear Marshall Faulk’s name, I immediately think that he’s the best receiving back of all time and it’s not even close. Not only was he a great receiving back, but he was an absolute touchdown magnet, his incredible all-around talent easily lands him in the top 10 Running Backs ever, but isn’t even the best Rams Running Back ever.

Stats: 12,279 Rush Yds, 100 TD, 6,875 Rec Yds, 36 TD

Best Year (2000): 253 Rush, 1,359 Rush Yds, 18 TD, 81 Rec, 830 Rec Yds, 8 TD (MVP)

Accolades: HOF, 1x MVP, 3x OPOY, 7x Pro Bowl, 3x All-Pro, 1x TD Leader, 1x SB Champ

#7: LaDainian Tomlinson, SD, NYJ | TCU | ‘01-’11 | 5’10 215

LaDainian Tomlinson is my favorite Running Back of all time and he was absolutely electric every time he stepped onto the field. L.T. was an amazing leader for those San Diego Chargers teams in the early to mid 2000s and it’s a shame that they never won a Super Bowl. He had a nose for the End Zone as he ranks 2nd all time in Rushing TD’s.

Stats: 13,684 Rush Yds, 145 TD, 4,772 Rec Yds, 17 TD

Best Year (2006): 348 Rush, 1,815 Rush Yds, 28 TD, 56 Rec, 508 Rec Yds, 3 TD (MVP)

Accolades: HOF, 1x MVP, 1x OPOY, 5x Pro Bowl, 3x All-Pro, 2x Rushing Title, 3x TD Leader

#6: Eric Dickerson, LAR, IND, OAK, ATL | SMU | ‘83-’93 | 6’3 220

Here we go, Eric Dickerson is the number 6 ranked Running Back of all time, and this is where every player has an argument for the best Running Back ever. Eric Dickerson was incredibly intimidating player with unbelievable breakaway ability and he had an instant impact on the NFL as he made the All-Pro 1st Team his first two seasons.

Stats: 13,259 Rush Yds, 90 TD, 2,137 Rec Yds, 6 TD

Best Year (1984): 379 Rush, 2,105 Rush Yds, 14 TD

Accolades: HOF, 1x OPOY, 6x Pro Bowl, 5x All-Pro, 4x Rushing Title, 1x TD Leader
