The Top 25 Running Backs in NFL History.

#25: Jamaal Charles, KC, DEN, JAX | Texas | ‘08-’18 | 5’11 200

Jamaal Charles was one of the best in the NFL when I was growing up and every Sunday I’d love to see him on TV or his stats flash on the ESPN screen. Charles was a fantastic receiver as well, making him an all-around threat. His last few years sort of tanked his career averages, but that doesn’t take away from how great his prime was.

Stats: 7,563 Rush Yds, 44 TD, 2,593 Rec Yds, 20 TD

Best Year (2013): 259 Rush, 1,287 Rush Yds, 12 TD, 70 Rec, 693 Rec Yds, 7 TD

Accolades: 4x Pro Bowl, 2x All-Pro, 1x TD Leader

#24: Marshawn Lynch, BUF, SEA, OAK | California | ‘07-’19 | 5’11 215

“Beast Mode” was one of the best Power Backs we’ve ever seen as he gave us many memorable moments including arguably the best run of all time, The Beast Quake. Lynch was a fan favorite and nearly unstoppable in his prime, if Defenses didn’t plan for him, they were in for a very long and stressful day of football.

Stats: 10,413 Rush Yds, 85 TD, 2,214 Rec Yds, 9 TD

Best Year (2012): 315 Rush, 1,590 Rush Yds, 11 TD, 23 Rec, 196 Yds, 1 TD

Accolades: 5x Pro Bowl, 1x All-Pro, 2x TD Leader, 1x SB Champ

#23: Tiki Barber, NYG | Virginia | ‘97-’06 | 5’10 205

Barber had a bit of a weird end to his career, he retired in 2006, which was right before the Giants 2007 Super Bowl win. Barber also retired after a 1,600 Yard rushing season to the shock of many people, either way, Barber was a Hall of Fame talent, but his prime was only about six years and that may be what holds him back from gaining entry.

Stats: 10,449 Rush Yds, 55 TD, 5,183 Rec Yds, 12 TD

Best Year (2005): 357 Rush, 1,860 Rush Yds, 9 TD, 54 Rec, 530 Yds, 2 TD

Accolades: 3x Pro Bowl, 1x All-Pro

#22: Frank Gore, SF, IND, MIA, BUF, NYJ | Miami (FL) | ‘05-’20 | 5’9 212

Gore’s incredible longevity is what makes his career so special, and that’s the reason why he’s third all time in Rushing Yards. Gore was a brute runner who could break tackles with ease, and his receiving ability wasn’t too shabby either. Just based on the longevity, Gore should be a Hall of Famer and I think it’s almost a guarantee he’ll be in.

Stats: 16,000 Rush Yds, 81 TD, 3,985 Rec Yds, 18 TD

Best Year (2006): 312 Rush, 1,695 Rush Yds, 8 TD, 61 Rec, 485 Rec Yds, 1 TD

Accolades: 5x Pro Bowl

#21: Derrick Henry, TEN | Alabama | ‘16-Present | 6’3 247

Derrick Henry has been the best Running Back in the NFL for the last four years or so and for good reason. Henry is an absolute monster, he’s 6’3 and nearly 250 pounds yet he has elite speed amongst his bulldozer frame. I expect Henry to keep this up for several more years as long as he keeps his body in shape and he stays healthy.

Stats: 8,335 Rush Yds, 78 TD, 1,244 Rec Yds, 3 TD

Best Year (2020): 378 Rush, 2,027 Rush Yds, 17 TD

Accolades: 1x OPOY, 3x Pro Bowl, 1x All-Pro, 2x Rushing Title, 2x TD Leader
