The Revere Minutemen Beat The Barberton Magics on Homecoming Night

It was the homecoming game for the Revere Minutemen as they faced Barberton in a close one. Barberton was forced to play Ayden Tritt at quarterback due to injuries and that put all the pressure on running back Sean Wright. However, Revere quarterback Luke Farris and running back Johlil Blanchard were enough to lead the Minutemen to a 26-21 victory on homecoming.

After exchanging three and outs a fumbled snap by Barberton was recovered by Revere at their own 22 yard line. This turnover eventually led to a 52 yard touchdown run by Johlil Blanchard to put Revere up 6-0 after a failed 2 point attempt in the first quarter. On Barberton’s next drive, running back Sean Wright completed a 28 yard pass to Ethan Key on a trick play. This would soon lead to a 12 yard touchdown run by Wright to put Barberton up 7-6 at the end of the first quarter.

In the second quarter Revere quarterback Luke Farris threw a 15 yard touchdown pass to Aaron French to reclaim the lead 13-7. After a few drives stalled out Aaron French would catch another touchdown pass by Luke Farris. This 29 yard sled to the Minutemen holding a 20-7 halftime lead.

On Revere’s opening drive of the half Luke Farris fumbled the ball and it was recovered by Barberton at the Revere 20 yard line. This turnover quickly led to a 18 yard touchdown pass from Ayden Trit to Sean Wright making the score 20-14 with Revere still leading.

The following drive for Revere ended with Trent Dewitt intercepting Luke Farris and returning it for a touchdown making the score 21-20 with Barberton leading. This was a massive shift in momentum as Barberton scored 14 unanswered points in less than 5 minutes to start the third quarter. The third quarter would end with Barberton kicker Blake Leary missing a 37 yard field goal attempt as the score remained 21-20 with Barberton leading.

In the fourth quarter Revere’s James Perry gained 12 yards and a first down on a successful fake punt. The fake punt proved to be fruitful as Luke Farris eventually scored on a 9 yard touchdown run and Revere reclaimed the lead 26-21 in the fourth quarter. After getting the ball back and eating some clock a great punt by Luke Farris pinned Barberton back on their own 5 yard line late in the fourth.
