The Real Reasons Why Cody Rhodes Lost at WrestleMania 39

HHH & Vince McMahon know how to hold a grudge with the best of them

HHH has a vendetta against Cody for him mocking HHH at the first ever AEW PPV when Cody hit a sledgehammer to a mock HHH throne.  I mean, it sounds petty, but this is the same guy who championed bringing Sting into WWE, just to have him lose to HHH.

Also, when you go back in the anals of WrestleMania, you often see the face of another organization lose their first big match back at a WrestleMania.  Now, I know Rhodes won last year against Rollins in his return, but that was a must win that would have made no sense if he lost.  This time, they had a choice to defeat the old face of AEW, and did so.

Not to mention the fact, that Ric Flair lost at WrestleMania VIII against Randy Savage, Big Show lost at WrestleMania 15, Jericho and Benoit both took a defeat at WrestleMania 2000, Booker T at X8, AJ Styles at 32 against Jericho, Nakamura at 34 against Styles, the list goes on and on.  It is the WWE’s choice, it is scripted, certain things can be very petty, and this was.  Just look how they booked Dusty Rhodes back in the day.
