The Olmsted Falls Bulldogs earned a hard-fought 47–40 victory over the Avon Lake Shoremen on Tuesday night in a matchup filled with intensity, momentum swings, and standout individual performances. Both teams came out with high energy in the opening quarter, trading baskets early before Emma Schaefer drilled a three to give Olmsted Falls its first lead.
Avon Lake’s Olivia Miller answered with aggressive drives, including an and-one finish, while Miller and Jesse Simon put on a fun defensive battle throughout the night. After eight minutes of back-and-forth action, Olmsted Falls held a slim 11–10 edge.
The Bulldogs found their rhythm in the second quarter behind a dominant stretch from Schaefer, who repeatedly attacked the rim and converted three separate and-one opportunities to swing momentum back in Olmsted Falls’ favor. Her late-half surge helped the Bulldogs close strong and take a 25–21 lead into halftime, with Avon Lake continuing to apply pressure behind Miller’s scoring.
The Shoremen opened the third quarter on a run and briefly grabbed the lead, fueled by strong interior play and another push from Miller. Grace Largent provided relentless hustle for Olmsted Falls—making key saves, rebounds, and effort plays that don’t show up on the stat sheet—while Schaefer capped the quarter with a contested layup to tie the game at 33 heading into the fourth.
Olmsted Falls saved its best basketball for the final period. Reese Timura opened the quarter with a three, Jesse Simon buried one from deep, and Schaefer continued her attack with another strong finish as the Bulldogs rattled off an 8–0 run to seize control. Avon Lake fought back, but timely free throws from Schaefer and steady execution down the stretch sealed the win despite a late Shoremen push.
Emma Schaefer led all scorers with 25 points, followed by Simon with 12, while Miller paced Avon Lake with 24. With strong bench contributions, gritty defense, and poise in crunch time—especially in a tough road environment with a loud Avon Lake crowd—Olmsted Falls proved they could respond to adversity and close out a quality SWC conference victory.
