The OBJ Problem: Who’s Fault Is It?

First let’s take a look at the man himself and see if there is anything we can pin down. A lot of fans want to crush him for missing OTA’s. But look at the word, “optional”. I don’t think his play this season has anything to do with that.

It would have given him and Baker a few extra reps to learn each other, but at the end of the day if you think Baker is as good as he thinks he is, then it shouldn’t matter. I personally feel as though it wouldn’t have made the difference people tend to think it would have.

There is a couple things that hold him back and it started in camp with his hip injury. Now we hear word of the sports hernia. It is clear that injuries have played a big role in all of this. He wanted to help the Browns win and make an immediate impact. That is why he opted to not have the surgery earlier in the season when he knew their schedule was going to be brutal.

I can’t blame a guy for that, I just can’t! He wanted to produce and he wanted to win. He has been a model teammate, not throwing anyone under the bus including coaches when it would have been easy to do. I believe he has matured a lot this season and I pray to God they don’t trade him in the offseason.

The only negative thing I can say is his desire to be an individual in a team game. The uniform stuff, the visor, the watch, the shoes, all of that nonsense needs to stop and apparently has. Only time will tell with that.

My advice, keep OBJ, get him healthy and try again next year with a better coach and see what happens.

But, if we’re not blaming OBJ, then who do we blame? Let’s take a look at page 3….

  1. You are right in most of what u say. My problem with OBJ is me me me. He makes his own rules with when to show up and the uniforms garbage and he can catch a ball thrown to him. Now dose he really want out. Our coaching and line are terrible. Looking back we would have been better off with no trade. It led to the hype they fed us and sale of tickets. Not wins. Let it play out now. We have no choice. We dug our own hole. What i want to see OBJ DO IS DO FOR THE LEAST OF MY BROTHER ! Dose he care about people or just his pocket and stardum. If we could get what we gavefor him viatrade. Than do it. Make a stand. What a wasted year. I hope as a team it can be changed and next year will be our year. If not we have the same old clowns

  2. It will be yet another year of changing players and coaching staff.
Let the team get a couple years of routine. Knowing the plays and eachothers style.
The great teams have longevity of the same players. Can’t put a bunch of new folks together expect them to play well.
