The North Ridgeville Rangers moved to a record of 3-0 after beating the Normandy Invaders 51-10. Led by Quarterback Brendan Watchorn and The Rangers whole running back core who put on a show tonight. They ran through the Invaders defense and were able to put pressure on the Invaders offense for the entirety of the game.
The first possession for the Rangers didn’t go as planned as it was a quick 3 and out with a failed attempt at a fake punt as they turned the ball over on downs. The first possession for the Invaders was a quick three and out as well, as North Ridgeville was all over their offense tackling them for a loss twice and pressuring Quarterback Elijah Gray to throw an incompletion that was almost intercepted.
Once the Rangers got to the 48 yard line, Quarterback Brendan Watchorn threw a deep 48 yard pass to Connor Costin for the touchdown, making the score 7-0.
The Invaders got back on offense and couldn’t seem to stop the Rangers defense. They kept rushing through the offensive line who looked very tired, as they were once again tackled for a loss multiple times for multiple yards and being forced to punt the ball away.
The Rangers got the ball back and rushed for a couple of plays before the ball was turned over due to a forced fumble by the Invaders defense. The Invaders got the ball back and got very lucky as penalties from the Rangers caused the Invaders to gain some major yards putting them near the 30 on the Rangers side of the field.
The Invaders could not gain a first down by any means, so they settled for a field goal from Neno Illic as it was made from 34 yards away, making the score 7-3 heading into the second quarter.
The Rangers got the ball back after it was punted to them and with the first play of the drive, Andrew Ennis ran the ball for 45 yards and scored the touchdown for the Rangers making the score 14-3.
The Rangers got the ball back and were able to quickly move the ball down the field with the help of penalties from the Invaders and the tired defense from the Invaders as well. The Rangers quickly got in the red zone as running back Charlie Steinmetz was able to score on a 9 yard rushing touchdown, making the score 21-3 after the extra point.
The Invaders once again got pressured by the defense of the Rangers forcing Quarterback Elijah Gray to throw an interception, picked off by Brett Lienhart as he got the ball to the Invaders 10 yard line.
The Rangers got the ball back and got a holding penalty right when they were about to rush it in the end zone, moving them back 5 yards. But it was no problem for Quarterback Brendan Watchorn as he threw it in the end zone for 15 yards and was caught by Charlie Steintmetz for the touchdown making the score 28-3.
The Invaders started with the ball in the 3rd quarter with Elijah Gray getting a great return on the kickoff to the Rangers 47 yard line. Elijah Gray continued to show off his versatility by throwing and passing, picking up a few yards on the run and then throwing it in for a 30 yard touchdown to Curtis Stacks.
The Rangers would cruise to a 51-10 victory from there.
