STOW, Ohio – After a thrilling double overtime game, the Bees (14-3) come out on top with a 52-50 win against the Twinsburg Tigers (16-5).

Both teams started off strong but Taylor Dye, a sophomore on the Twinsburg Tigers, scored her first two-pointer of the game. Dye showed up fast and was able to take the ball to the net very soon after the first period began and continued earning 13 more points as the game continued. Ashley Perdion, junior on the Bees, quickly retaliated with a two-pointer putting the Bees up on the board. Perdion continued to show up for her team throughout the game by earning 15 points in total. By the end of the first quarter, the Tigers were up 13-12.

At the beginning of the second quarter, both the Bees and the Tigers had impeccable defense. Each team showed their skills on the court, and it paid off. Maya Woods, a senior on the Bees, showed off her talent by scoring a three-pointer. Woods glided across the court with ease and was able to attack the ball in a calm, but efficient, manner. Woods also was a high scorer of the game with 15 points. A thrilling back-to-back first half with the Bees and the Tigers continuously fighting for the higher position ended again with the Tigers on top 22-21.

The third and fourth quarters held much excitement. Each quarter was more thrilling than the last. With the score being just as close as the first half, and the same players scoring most baskets. However, Josalyn Hackney, a junior for the Bees, made her presence known by scoring her first two points of the game. Hackney had a total of 6 points, with two of those being what won the Bees the game.

With the crowd on the edge of their seats, and 17 seconds left in the game, the score was tied 41-41. The Bees and the Tigers were both focused on winning the game. Unfortunately, neither team could score in time, sending the game into overtime. Mackenzie Sweeney, sophomore on the Tigers, was able to score foul points at the top of OT giving the Tigers a bit of an upperhand. With heavy defense, and little offensive plays, 12 seconds left in overtime was not enough to make either team victorious. The game headed into double overtime.

Excitement filled the air as the crowd was roaring with cheers, all counting on their girls to pull out a win. As the rest of double overtime went on, the game continued to be a nail-bitter. Tied at 50-50 with 35 seconds left in the period, who was going to take home that victory? All thanks to Josalyn Hackney, the Bees were able to come through and took home the win 52-50.

Other notable high scorers of the game are Christian Fletcher, Kayla Cellura, and Giana Taylor of the Twinsburg Tigers; and Preslee Doubler and Caiya La of the Brecksville-Broadview Heights Bees.
