The Best Receiver Seasons for the Giants Since 2000

The New York Giants have been one of the primary receiver hubs in the NFL for nearly two decades. They have had unforgettable, unique receivers, like Odell Beckham Jr., Victor Cruz, and now Malik Nabers.

With all of this talent they’ve had, who’s had the best individual seasons, without repeating a player?

5.) 2009 Steve Smith

09′ Steve Smith is maybe the most forgotten season on this list. This season was like no other for Smith. He had 1,220 yards, 107 receptions, and seven touchdowns. In his six-year career, this was his only season with over 600 yards, 60 catches, and three touchdowns. His 107 receptions that season were a Giants record that stood for 15 years, until Malik Nabers broke it in 2024.

Smith was Eli Manning’s go-to player this season. He was the only player with 100 targets (157) and had nearly 400 more yards than the second leader in receiving yards, Mario Manningham.

Smith was a true all-around receiver. He had superb speed, route running, and was always a danger after the catch. This will be a season that Giants fans will remember for a long time and one of the more underrated receiver seasons of the 2000s.

4.) 2002 Amani Toomer

The all-time leading receiver in Giants history. With Toomer’s excellent consistency, standout seasons inevitably follow, and 2002 was one such season. During his five straight 1,000-yard seasons, 02 was the season where everything came together. He had 1,343 yards, 82 catches, and eight touchdowns.

This season, Toomer was third in the league in receiving yards and broke the franchise record for receiving yards. This season, he had a staggering 10.0 yards per target, something scarce for a receiver that saw so much production. He was one of the elite deep threats in the NFL, with exceptional speed, a great catch radius, and phenomenal playmaking on the ball.

3.) 2024 Malik Nabers

The current franchise cornerstone has already left a historic footprint on the Giants. In his rookie season, Nabers set the franchise record for receptions, 109. Along with his catches, he had 1,204 yards and seven touchdowns. These marks put him fifth in the league in receptions and seventh in yards.

Nabers is the definition of a three-level threat. He is among the elite in route running, run-after-catch ability, and contested catching. Although it may feel early to put him this high up, his stats match up with everyone on this list, while having abominable quarterback play all season.

2.) 2011 Victor Cruz

Cruz has one of the most infamous touchdown celebrations ever, but celebrating is not all he did. In 2011, he had 1,536 yards, 82 catches, and nine touchdowns. His 1,536 yards became a franchise record that is held to this day, and was third in the NFL.

Cruz was one of the most electric receivers in football. His combination of blazing speed, crisp route running, and secure hands made him one of the elite playmakers in the NFL. His production in the regular season and playoffs was a key reason for the Giants having one of the most shocking Super Bowl wins in NFL history.

1.) 2014 Odell Beckham Jr.

One of the defining players of the 2010s. Odell is arguably the most influential receiver of this generation, and though it is because of his legendary catch, he has done much more than one catch. In his rookie season, 2014, he had 1,305 yards, 91 catches, and 12 touchdowns, all in just 12 games.

Odell led the NFL in receiving yards per game (108.8). This puts him on pace for having over 1,700 yards, 120 catches, and 16 touchdowns. Even while missing four games, he had arguably the greatest rookie receiving season ever. He could take any catch to the house, come down with any ball within his radius, and make anyone miss—a one-of-a-kind receiver.
